Problem with the roof please help.

Hi it is a long story about my roof but try to be quick.Bought z4 3.0 2004 on 54 plate when i pressed open button roof start to relase but stop just after that-pump still worked then when i push it went down but can't locked up.I replaced full hydro unit put everything together and try again.Now roof open without problem but can't lock it and when i try go up nothing happend-motor still working.When i hold it a while or go up and down few times everything go back to normal.After that is no problem with open it or close it but if i wait a while same story again.Also if the roof is opened and is there for a while is no problem with close it again.For me looks like something wrong with pressure.Also when stop this roof middle way after roof going down without push.No oil leak from the unit all hydraulic pipes fitted corectly.Can be something wrong with pipes or hinges?New unit can be wrong?Please help.Thanks
 
Thanks, when we put new hydraulic unit roof was opened and closed several times loads of air gone was ok when started firs time than same problem again.Anpther question about unit is 3 different models 1 is afrter 2007 and 2 different earlier models.One is 700 pounds second 300 pounds but all same numbers i bought cheeper one everything fit straight same no was on my old unit.Also is 2 different sound of motor when nothing happend is something like sound without pressure when is ok is more noisy and sound like more power.
 
As richard says this sounds like an air issue, do you know if the hydraulic fluid is at maximum?
