Problem with the front windshield spray washer

Hello I have a problem with the windshield spray washers (I hope this is the right phrase).
When I press to spray the water, most of the times it doesn't spray at all but some of them sprays normally.
My BMW mechanic is says that we have to change the spray washers, however I do not believe that this is right since it wouldn't spray at all if those where broken. Do you have any advice?

Had a similar problem, which was solved easily by cleaning the filters. Its a 15 min job to remove the fluid reservoir (1 bolt) then pull off the pumps and clean the filters attached to them..

Had the same with my Z3, just needed to clean out the washer fluid resevoir (had a load of gunk around the pump) and clean all the little filters . Really easy job on the Z3, can't imagine it'll be any more difficult on a Z4

Could just be a wee block in the jet nozzles, you could try giving them a squirt with an airline?
