problem with the blower

could find the right words with the search function, but when i have the blower on, the direction changes without me doing any thing,

when i have it pointed on the front window, it suddenly starts to blow at my feet, then it changes to my face, and i just don''t know how or what's happening.

so does anybody know how to fix this ?

it''s even with the airco off, as i don''t have the automatich airco but the manual with a button to start it.

it''s getting a little anoying, i hoped you guys knew what it was.
 
Sorry I can't help you but hopefully someone else on the forum will be able to. Will be interested to find out what the problem is, as it sounds like a strange one. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I had that problem after I bought the car, it seems to have fixed itself after a few weeks ... I wonder if it's something to do with the car being parked up for a while ?? don't suppose your was :? ?
 
it was parked up last winter, i think it has to do with the valve witch blows the air in to the right directon, or with the electral control of it. don't how it works, probably gonna be a great project this winter, i fno one has a solution.
 
If you have the direction knob in a different position such as midway between two what happens?
 
it changes, it goes than that mode an than the other i think, haven't tried that anymore, as it doesn't work so well. some times it blows ( as i think it should) both ways. but not allways.
 
Somebody on here had an AC control panel forsale, not sure which version but might be worth a look as a place to start.
 
i think's i'm going to save up and bring it to BMW if i can't find the problem, maybe they can see it on there computers ?

but i'm going to keep googling to find if i can find some answers but thanks you guys
 
found a lott of other problems wtich conect to the final stage resistor of the blower, could that be it ? as they seem to break on many BMW's.
 
The resistors are related to blower speed, not direction.

Sounds like the various flaps may be randomly induced to do a calibration or reference run. This could be due to some system fault, such as an implausible signal from some sensor or another. It's sort of like a soft reboot, it cycles through it's motions to attempt to establish a known state.

And as with any strange electrical behaivour, are you sure your battery is healthy?
 
jep changed it a half year after i bought it, so it''s 1,5 year old so that should be no problem, yesterday when i was driving home agian, i had it pointed at my front window, but some times it started to blow at my feet again...

maybe the control knobpanel is broken ? it feels verry light to turn, maybe i''ll try that one first.
 
What year is your car pre-facelift or facelift, I have a spare ac circuit board for a facelift model.
