Hey guys,
I purchased a 2004 3.0 Z4 roadster a couple of weeks ago from a dealer, and now I'm having problems with the dealer and a fault that has occured. I am going to speak to trading standards on Monday and see if they have any advice, but thought I'd post up on here to see if I get any information in the mean time!
Right, so as I said, I purchased a Z4 from a dealer several weeks back. I part exchanged my old car in and was happy with the deal. However 4 days after buying the car the airbag light came on, so I contacted the dealer asking if he would fix it. He replied saying "how about the ABS light that came on, on your part ex car?", now when I dropped the car off, there were no ABS lights on the dash (although it had been playing up at times before) and he accepted the car. Although he did not check the car himself so I can't prove the ABS light was off when I dropped it off, but as far as I understand this is his problem as he didn't check? He just asked if any lights were on and I told him "no" as there was not at the time.
I managed to get the Z4 into a specialist to have the fault codes read, turns out in needs a new control unit. If it was a cheap fix I would have just paid and let it go, however with the cost of replacement at several hundred pounts I want to pursue it further.
Do I have any right to get him to pay to fix the airbag fault on the Z4 in these circumstances?
Hope that all makes sence! I know trading standards will be in a better position to give advice but any pointers would be appreciated!
