Problem: Heater/AirCon/Heated Rear Screen not working (Transport mode?)

Hi Andy,

Appreciate this is a super old post so I’m not holding out too much hope.

Are you still around the Watford area. My Z4 just started having the same symptoms and I’d need the transport mode deleting.

Cheers,
Jack
Hi Jack and welcome to the forum.
I'm sure there will be people closer to you, but I could sort your transport mode for you if you're stuck.
Just a thought: I have to collect my lad from Heathrow Terminal 5 at about 7am on Saturday morning.
I appreciate that's early, but if you wanted to arrange to meet at a convenient point on my way home I could do it then for you.

You need 3 posts before you can exchange PMs. Reply to me on here, that'll be 2. Then maybe do an intro in the Newbie section.

Hi Enuff_Zed,

Thanks for getting back to me. Saturday morning could work. Funny enough I don’t live too far from Heathrow, I’m near Chorleywood which is about 2-3 exits before Heathrow on the M25 (assuming you’re heading anti-clockwise towards Heathrow?).

Yes, timing is a bit vague, depending if he gets delayed, clearing customs etc.
I'll be heading back round to the A1 then up towards Norfolk from there.
It would have to be a quick stop and reset as I'll be leaving the dogs in the house so can't hang around.
If you aren't too far off my route would it be easier to drop by?

Hi enuff_zed, sorry for the late reply. We lost power yesterday and only just came back on this afternoon. So no phones or internet.

Thanks for messaging and checking in! I think I’ve got it figured out now and taking it to my local German specialist tomorrow. I gave them a call this afternoon and it’s where I take my X5 and they said they’d do it for nothing.

Thanks again! I appreciate the speedy response and it’s what makes this forum great!

Takes less than 2 minutes and one mouse click !!!!

Enuff_zed can you help me out please? I’m suffering the same issue after I needed a jump start. Thought I’d blew fuses but they’re all good. I’m also in Norfolk, work in Dereham so I can come to you anytime.

I can do it for you, im near Braintree - Essex

Now I seem to have the same problem following a flat battery. Is a normal OBD reader able to clear it (I have one of those)?

Don’t think there are any that can.
Where are you?

You could head to Newton-Le-Willows and pay a fortune for it to be done by a self-professed Zed-God.

Or if you had an old laptop, preferably running Windows 8, you could spend £19.95 for the OBD connector and lead with the Scanner 1.4 software provided too. Actually resetting the Transport Mode takes about 2 minutes once it's all plugged in.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154021453500
Then you can recoup your costs by helping others in return for a couple of quid.

As a bonus, you get a really good tool for finding error codes and for doing coding.

Where are you?
Not a million miles from Attleborough: Bishop's Stortford. I'm up and down to Snetterton and Hethel a few times a year but nothing scheduled until September.
Are there some fuses I should check first?

Nope it’s just a setting within the HVAC module

Im 25min from Stortford, if your ever in the area (Braintree).

I make a point of offering our South Wales Zedshed Group of enthusiasts the option of deleting Transport Mode when they visit the Zedshed Cymru shed (My home garage equipped with a car lift) 5 minute operation using my Launch Tablet scanner, it deletes Transport Mode from all the modules on the car that have Transport Mode embedded in them. BMW Scanner 1.4 on a Laptop can reset Transport Mode but cannot delete it like the Launch can. BMW Scanner is very cheap on ebay, all you need is a windows Laptop. It will read all modules on the car and can do some programming. Cheap and easy to install and operate far less complicated than BMW INPA and its sister programmes.
