Problem at start up

It's happened a couple of times now. Car doesn't fire up first time but during me turning the key it switches off or like the battery has been disconnected for a split second. Then when it does fire up clock and miles reset them selfs (also abs, dtc) lights come on. This only seems to happen when it's cold and hasn't been used.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advanced

Just checked the battery and it's abit damp under the boot panel I have left it off to air it out a little will see how that helps.

I'd check the battery terminals are tight as they can cause similar issues. You ask for a high current and it can't deliver and gives the symptom of the battery being disconnected and thus the instruments zero out.

Best things is a meter on the battery too to check it's static voltage. Look for north of 12.4v (and 14.7+ when running for a good charge rate)
That will show up if it's on it's way out.
