Problem After Repairs.

I have a question about repairs I have had done in January this year. Just before Christmas I had a little accident, which required a new front bumper and passenger side Xenon headlight.
I decide because of the damage to the headlight that I would go through my insurance for the repairs. Cost of a new light was fair more then my excess plus the fact I got a replacement car to use over charismas even though repairs where not going to start till the New Year.
Anyway I got my car back mid January looking nice and fresh, but I now have a problem with my headlight. I have two different coloured lights and what looks like to different lens.
My old light has what looks like little ribs on the lens and has a blue/white tint to the light. The new light has a clear non ribbed lens and has a clear white tint. below are some photos old and then new

I’ve been in contact with the repairs on and off and taken the car back to show them the problem. After seen the problem they have been in contact with BMW parts/spares but still believe they have fitted to correct part. The reply I got back from them was that "BMW light are not blue so problem could be with my old light".
I brought this car from a BMW dealer when it was year and half old, I would not of thought any one would of messed with the lights in that time.

I have got them to take the car back in so they can take a closer look to double check part numbers etc with the old and new light.

What I would like to know has they been any changes to the production of these lights, my cars a 57reg. What lens do people have fitted to there Xenon lights, are they ribbed or clear?

I'm assuming its most probably two different bulbs and lens, nothing serious but believe it should be put right hopefully but the repairer.

My Xenons are also like pic 2.

There was a post on here some time back where someone with haolgens swapped their ribbed lens for clears when they fitted after market HID's kit.

Not sure how you could have got a halogen lens in a car factory equipped with xenons.

I remember that as well.

My cars defiantly got Xenons, Its just got the one dial on the switch for the cabin dimmer, washers and high voltage lebels etc. Im starting to think the previous owner done something, but i cant understand why.

I'll post a picture later with them on.

May not be anything sinister... maybe those two lens are inter changeable? didnt think you could buy the lens separate though... so they may have to swap out the whole unit.

But that will not be the repairers fault though, they have fitted the right light for the right car ...

Thats very true... but could you could argue its not the right "matching" light for the car... similar to how when they paint a panel they cant simply use the paint code as paint will fade over time and they need to match it when the making a repair.

Im not saying they have fitted the wrong light, I have been pleased with the repairs that they have carried out. I was just wondering if there was any changes in production of these lights over the years but that seems not to be the case.

The garage said they get there parts by going of the chassis number. The only thing that worried me was the fact they said the first light they ordered and tried to fit was not a Xenon light just a standard light. He said they had to reorder the part and was telling me how expensive they were at some thing like £700+ just for a single light.

Do you think I could make them put matching bulbs in, seeing as I have two different coloured lights. I believe the bulbs are pretty expensive.

The main thing is that they agreed to have it back in to take a close look so hopefully they will have a better idea of where the problem might be. I should of asked for my old light back because it was still working, i'd assume they have binned it or sold it by now.

I had a quick look at my xenons tonight and they are the ribbed kind as shown in picture one. I suggest you have a word about that.

Thanks that's good to know. Was starting to worry the previous owner done some thing to them. Hopefully they will resolve this when they have it back in next week.
