Proactive - How to not have my car throw the airbag light

New to the Z4 and before I start any work, I want to make sure I don't foul something up to get the famous airbag light on the dash. I've read it can have something to do with not properly disconnecting the battery before working on it. Is it really just an easy take the terminal off the battery before doing any work to it? Thanks.

Yes as easy as that but once the battery is disconnected wait for up to fifteen mins before touching anything. Then remember not to switch on the ignition without the seats being fully installed and battery connected. Suggest you have a code reader to hand just in case!!
If you are in the market for a decent code reader I can reccomend the Creator 310+ for circa £50 from Amazon or ebay, mine found and cleared a fault I had with an airbag light, other software couldn't clear it and those were INPA and BMW Scanner 1.4 on a laptop. Bonus with the Creator is that its small and transportable, nice to keep it in the boot for those just in case moments.

I don't have it on the dash and I am trying to avoid it as I have read it seems to be a pain in the ass to clear. Thanks for the recommendation on a reader. I do want to invest in a decent one for the BMW as I just have a cheap one right now. (I'm also in the states)
