Is it me, or can most drivers not understand the lingo of some private plates.
I had a foreign dude ask me what my plate meant the other day, I was quite amazed because to me, it reads exactly what I want it to read, whats your opinions ?

Private plates are personal, most that try to be actual words are only instantly recognisable in the head of the person to whom it belongs. At least it is recognisable as a personal plate, unlike that owned by our illiterate eBay Z seller on another thread.

I know the OP, so am pretty sure he was trying to simulate the word 'caaaaaaannt'. Which is how they say the C word down here.

:P

Sorry, nothing can't get it. :idunno:

I wonder if it's really a case of the King's new clothes........ there is isn't really anything there! I hope it wasn't too expensive :poke:

Reads Kanse to me...

"The male name Kanse is pronounced as KahNS- (*). Kanse's origin is English-American. Kanse is a variant form of the name"

Unfortunately, I read it as 'Someone else with money to waste." I have an 09 plate and several people have asked why I haven't put a private plate on to hide its age. My response is normally, I bought it to drive, I really don't care whether other people can see how old it is...

To me, private plates are now everywhere, from £200.00 bangers upwards. It seems to be part of the standard 'package' that Joe public 'needs', alongside the North Face jacket, designer dog and Hunters.

Just my view...

I don't get it either.

Initials I can understand but trying to 'force' a word I don't understand.

My surname is Horne and my missus asked if I wanted the plate HO07 RNE when I got the Z.

Whilst it would be more "personal" than the current reg, still a bit naff imo (even if I could pretend to be James Bond 8) ).

I think with private plates its seems to polarise opinion. I like them and own a few. I have just put a different one on my coupe. I will try and post a pic if I can work it out.
Stug.

Ok, well to all those who couldn't read it, my name is Kane.
The dude that I spoke about earlier on read it as Kanse too.

Now you know my name, is it easier to work out what the plate reads?

Got mine a few weeks ago. Short plate using my initials and the dateless 'V' plate I felt worked with the lines of the car. Silly for some I'm sure, but I'm a creative director and thats the kind of thing I'm into

With personal plates, I think it depends if you're trying to show someone else something, (ie I have too much money and can therefore afford this plate) or it's personal to you. Ours is very much the latter as in general we don't 'get' personal plates. So, ours are our initials, and 2 important dates for us which are 1 digit apart. Other than that digit, we have matching plates and to most people it means nothing (except to those who know our full names :P ). Bought the pair from the DVLA and fitted etc for under £500...and we'll have them for life, now, and only we will know..... 8) but they do look good parked next to each other in the garage when it's the only time they are obvious.

My car confuses most people as they've never seen one, and the plate adds to their confusion as they then say 'I have no idea what it is, but it looks good for its age'
