Not really a fan of these, but I have a cheap one on my z to hide its age.

However

My sister in law, who is not very well off has a plate on retention K..LOU which she's thinking of selling to raise some funds for house repairs.

eBay have similar plates on sale for £7500 and £1200. Reg transfers have offered £1200

Anyone wise about these things with advice to offer would be very welcome to share their opinion.

Yes, We'd need the full reg to get any idea of Value, but £1200 for a standard K plate seems high initially.

Regtransfers may have valued it at £1200 but they dont usually buy them, just sell on a commission basis and sales take a fair while.
 
Should be worth £1,000 - £1,500

Easiest is just to go onto the DVLA site and punch in some combinations near to what you have.

On there the likes of P25 LOU, T31 LOU, etc. go for £1,500+ so you have a fairly valuable plate if you can find a buyer

But they're still on there and I suspect they have been for some time. I would guess that that plate was no more than £399 from DVLA including the £80 transfer, so maybe worth a few hundred more at most.

I was quoting from the DVLA site so I take that as the benchmark valuation.
That would sell for £1000 any day

Lets hope the OP keeps us posted and updates the thread if/when it sells. I'll happily donate £10 to the forum if it sells for 4 figures by April. Care to counter that CJ ?
 
I give more than enough to the forum being a mod.

Will be interesting to see what happens and since op's looking to help someone raise needed money I wish him well I'm getting a good price

Sale depends on how much the owner has to get cash in hand urgently

I also wish him well for the best possible price.
As you say its a matter of holding out for ever or shifting it quickly to get cash in hand. The key is where is the middle ground ?.

I'll watch with interest.
 
Thanks for the advice gents. On the basis that you can always reduce you asking price but never increase it. I'll suggest she starts at £1200 and see how things go.

She's a bit of a ditherer and rather unpredictable, she may decide to do nothing at all!
