Hello guys, was wondering if someone can help me.
i bought a cheap irish plate on the 20th december from r4v.co.uk
plate was £39 plus the £80 transfer fee. great, nice cheap plate hide the age of the car.
Now i hadnt received anything back @ the end of january, i accept it takes upto 28 working days to process documents, but its been 28 working days today since the application was sent from r4v to the DVLA (apparently.)
i sent this email to them this morning;
Dear Sir or Madam,
Under instruction from yourselves, I was told to contact you after 28 working days of not receiving my documentation. You confirmed received the paperwork 28 working days ago. Please can you advise me on the whereabous of my numberplate documentation
Regards.
To which i received this reply;
Dear Sir
The delivery date of your order is governed by your contract of sale and the DVLA, please kindly refer to these as they govern the delivery of your order and nothing else does.
The guidelines they give is purely that, as clearly stated on the V317 application form and can be more or less dependent upon their processing workloads.
Your contract of sale clearly had the terms below that you accepted in order to place the order:
Buying
5. Under the terms of the contract, the transfer of any registration must be completed within a maximum of one hundred and eighty calendar days from receipt at R4V's office, of completed documents and payment from buyer and seller. The buyer would be entitled to a refund thereafter if this is not fulfilled. This transfer period may be superseded by any written agreement between the Buyer or Seller and the Administration Manager. This transfer period may also be extended should the DVLA office processing the paperwork require to inspect any vehicle involved in the process as this will negate the maximum term.
The paperwork is with the DVLA processing centre and they will issue it to you this week as we have advised already.
Regards
So i phoned the DVLA, who informed me that the numberplate is still registered to a moped in ireland as of today and that no application has been made by anyone to transfer the plate off or onto another vehicle,
I phoned R4v to confront them about this , who told me the DVLA are wrong (?!) and not to worry i will have the paperwork this week and to give them another ring next week if i still havent received anything
so in their buying stipulation , its 180 days (i.e. 6 months) before i can get a refund. Have to say im pretty annoyed, not at the money, but the principal and the way they've written their emails with no apology or any reassurance.
