Private plate help??

I've recently bought a number plate privately through pistonheads. It was on retention and I now have the V778 form in my possession, which I am a nominee on. It has been signed by the Grantee, the guy I bought it from. Does anyone know if I, as the nominee, can go to the local dvla office in person to put this number plate onto my car? It's not clear in the instructions whether or not the grantee is required in person?

Such an antiquated system for this sort of thing!

Do you think this means I can't do it as the nominee then?

"The nominee has no right to the registration number until it's assigned to their vehicle. You can add (if you don’t have one), or change a nominee any time or at the same time the registration number is assigned.
If the dealer is named as the purchaser or grantee, they will normally need to do this for you and may charge for their services."

I bought a plate on dvla's own site,I was the purchaser and wife was the nominee,I think this would be the same.

Easiest thing I can suggest is to call your local dvla in the morning and ask them to clarify this for you,I found our local office to be very good.

think this correct, what is the number, or do you not want to say on here?

Got it done this morning. No problems at all, as long as the grantee has signed it then I can assign it to my car.

Just swapped my Z4M for an Exige so bought X100TUS...Should look pretty good on the car
