Sorry :headbang: This is the plate on Platehunter.com MR05 STR - £ 1,325.00.
Don't forget to add on the £265 VAT!

https://www.platehunter.com/REG/CURRENT/MR05+STR

Sounds expensive for a reg that says MROSSTR when others with the same pre & suffix are only £388+vat - maybe better for someone called M Rossiter :P

BTW, they seem to be charging £50 more than DVLA for the same MRxxSTR plates...

Thats a hell of a price for a plate that looks bog standard to most people.

My thoughts exactly.

When I had the 718 Boxster 3 years ago I paid £250 for Y8 BXR

Would like that plate Andy, however expect it would exceed my budget very early in the auction.

Just looked at it again and it already has.

thats a nice plate for £250! i'll be keeping hold of my Pxx BXR plate that was on my car when i bought it, just looks nice on a boxster.

In a few years time i hope to get an Audi R8, and already planning on getting an R8 Rxx plate for it - for £250 it would be a shame not to!

If only Leonard was still alive . It is expensive and especially when compared with the others which I hadn`t seen . I`m not looking for this personally as I dont have an M or a roadster and the others you found didn`t come up when I was playing about . It was just that I saw it and thought someone might be interested . I shall climb back in my coupe shell and think twice in the future .

I have never understood the values on plates over there.

In Canada we can get personalized plates - cost is $100 plus $40 per year thereafter. I've never bothered because it doesn't turn my crank to have one, but at least if it did, we pay a more reasonable price.

You're spoilt!

Our Government never misses an opportunity to take some cash from motorists. :(

Mind you our used car prices seem to be lower than most places so it isn't all bad news in the UK.

I think all governments are alike in that respect - ours just hasn't seen it as a source of revenue as we don't attach the same sort of value to such plates as you guys seem to.

All of the used car prices here are higher than they were pre-Covid - I could probably get what I paid new for my Solstice coupe 13 years ago, but part of that is because of rarity (1250 made). The various parts shortages have reduced new cars to a trickle, which will hopefully change soon.

To be honest in over 40 years I've never bought a "personal plate" but my current Z4 came with one already fitted, which is a bonus as it means the plate isn't age-related.

UK used prices are also way up from pre-Covid days so I'm now glad I bought mine in December 2019. :D

But I wouldn't mind if supply of new cars stays low if it means used prices stay at current levels!
