Private number plate or not?

I have never really been a fan of private numberplate a, but sine getting the Z4m, I keep thinking about it and I don't really know why.

I'm only thinking of something that doesn't mean too much to anyone (my initials, and keeping it to 5 characters rather than 7).

I just don't know if its worth spending £250-£300 on though.

Has anyone got one and think it was a good idea?

I'm hoping to get one for Xmas off the mrs :D

I want

90 is my year if birth so kinda works

Do it!!

I just ordered one for the MR. One letter, two numbers and my three initials. Don't know why either; just felt like it needed a little dateless action and wanted one for a while to swap between cars.

That's the sort of thing I am after.

I can't find any numberplates with relevant numbers to me though!
I would have my year of birth but they never did an 85.

How did you pick your number inkey?

I'm much the same, always thought ther were a little ponsy and didn't see th point. But then birthday time came around an now I wonder why I dint get one years ago...

I've had mine since 1993 ( nothing special just my initials on a J3 plate ) - initially only cost £300 direct from DVLA but transferred a few times since at £80 a time !

Quietly flash and looks good on something special such as the zed - and makes the car ageless - never depreciates in value :)

Discussed many times before on the forum.

Personally I like 5 digit plates and make the car less obvious as a 10 year old.
Have them on all the cars in our house. Not expensive and you'll always be able to sell them on at a later date.

makes the look of both the front and rear of the car much cleaner. the normal plates seem to distract from the lines and curves of the car.

I just picked a number that looked cool to me from the choice available and always liked the short, V reg look. Angled type letter that suits the car and the number has a 4 in it so it works 'slightly' with my Zed

V14 DWN on it's way to me as we speak!

I've just bought a plate for my daughter for her 18th birthday, her initials 05 then her full initials, only £250 bit of a bargain really, she's not getting her own car until next March when she's been driving for a year but I'm hoping she'll look forward to putting it on, I've also considered putting one on the ///M with my initials at the end, you don't have to spend big money it seems

Don,t go naff & they do add something to a car & they always look better on a class motor :)
I got mine for under £200 from here http://www.r4v.co.uk/searchgallery.php?c=CHE

Similar to mine F2 & 3 letters , deffinately much better with 5 digits visually than 6.Six digit plates are generally cheaper so there are a lot around now .

You should do it Woots - never mind waiting till Christmas!

I made the mistake of waiting - and waiting till the chosen plates had gone -TWICE
I don't want to hear you've made the same mistake. You'll kick yourself, trust me. :)

I got D5 ### E5### and wanted F5### for the zed. I waited then too long and It had gone - Had to get E6###
Its ok but not what I really wanted/
