Just had my Car full Hunter Alignment for £120 Plus £100 Charge to fit my Eibach springs. When i picked the car up,They jacked it up and showed me alot of play on the wheels and showed me the 2 front bushs on the inside part where gone (bush connected to the car)He said he get a qoute on the parts and come back to me on a price. And then check the alingment again.

£55 for the bush's (2x) and £60 for the fitting.£115? This sound resonable?

Just check since this Z4 Is actualy killing me cost wise... :x

Hunter Alignment with worn bushes and they charged you for the alignment - I think you have been had! Whats the point in doing the alignment if all the component parts are not up to specification..... They should have contacted you when they found the worn bushes and with your agreement replaced and THEN done the alignment.

Depends if OEM parts or aftermarket. £20 a piece aftermarket £100 pair OEM from memory. Fitting can be 5 minutes or an hour depending on how tight they are on the wishbones. Unless a competent DIY and assuming the check the alignment foc after the work then not too bad.

Worn bushes won't affect the alignment much while static, they will however affect it under driving conditions of accelerating, braking and turning in making it feel very odd.

Quiz them on the alignment and see if they will do it again gratis... If they can explain the impact of the bushes like cj has then they should be able to convince you it isn't an issue replacing the bushes post alignment.

Always pays to ask - they can only say no.

Yes they said they will check the alingment again free of charge. He hasn't even bothered giving me the read out as he said it will be sligthly differnt when he does it again. He said it won't need a massive change.Simply at the moment the wheels are moving back and forth under braking/accelerating will change the camber or somthing i dunno.. i seemed very helpful and a car nut himself.Lifted it up on the ramp for me showed me all the worn bushs..And around his 200SX race car and NSX supercharger converstion...

Sound slike he's being very straight and open and his explanation is fairly close to my above post. I'd go with it.

Cool guys thanks..sounded "ok" to me..just wanted to check,As i said before i'm spending so much on this car :( .. don't get me wrong most the stuff i don't really need..but still :P I've kinda made a list in my head and i think i've spent £1500-2000 in 6 months... That's excluding petrol/road tax/insurance :o

Just think how nice your fettled car is going to be to drive, the steering will be sweet, and the handling sublime.Well worth a few bob spent I think.

Just thought I’d update you guys on how my car drives after all the work I’ve got done.

On purchasing my Z4..I wasn’t too impressed with the handling in all honesty, The front Felt Vague and unnerving round bends .. I though this was down to the electronic steering I read of in review’s..But never though it would be this bad. There rear end overly twitchy…and stupidly bad in the wet(coming from someone who’s only ever owned RWD). The ride on the 17’s was unforgiving ..and felt unnecessary ruff considering it didn’t translate into excellent handling.

Anyhow after Ditching my 17’s on Bridgestone Runflats. And going up an 1inch to Z4M alloys with continental M3’s the ride improved but the handling woes where there..if not worse. This is with a snapped rear spring and geometry set up for 17’s…

Took my Car to DMS…Got a Full Set of Eibach 15mm Lower springs fitted( discovered had 2 rears snapped )..and to get full Hunter Alignment. both Front Bushes replaced. They also done something with my rear toe/camber and its stopped 95% of the rubbing I got on hard cornering …

Anyhow the car now drives like a differently car…On Saturday after picking the car up is the first time I went for a drive in the Z4…It’s amazing …then went for a drive Sunday :D .. Was great! car handles amazing..The ride is acceptable..The turn in is sharp and the crisp bites. And on exit the more progressive oversteer on exit of rounda bouts and the like :D It’s great fun.

Anyhow..Forget all other mods you could do with your Z4’s honestly.

Get Rid of your runflats.
Get Some Eibach Lower springs
Get a Full Hunter Alignment.

The car will be transformed …

I thought you couldn't fit Z4M alloys to a non-M? Or is that that CSLs won't fit a normal Z4 only the Z4M? Surely the same thing?

The offset's are differnt so yes you will get some minor rubbing if you hit a big lump in the road at high speeds... (on the plastic arch on the rear wheels) but nothing majour no ..nothing on the front....and that's on a 3.0 (with lower springs than standard models)..Mines 15MM lower but they did somthing with my rear camber and its virtually no longer rubbing on my rear archs (only on the plastic inner arch) if i corner very very very hard and hit a lump at the same time..but mostly loss's traction before it rubs..And also on bit if a hit a big lump at 50mph+ or somthing..but again very minor.. When it's time to change my rears in 3000-4000miles ima gonig to get 35 Profile instead of 40's (as advised on the forums and DMS) and i shouldn't have anything at all..but tbh with 40's it's virtually non exsitent.

CSL's are a differnt story..I wanted these originaly.. But the problem is the 19's and 265... not 255/18.. like the Z4M's..I've heard you can fit 255's To the CSL's and it should be ok..But not sure.Wouldn't lower it at all with them.Friends are allways suprised mine are only 18's and think they look bigger..Probs due to the size.

But i do agree that CSL are the ultimo looks wise on the Z4M..

Fair enough, I read somewhere (think it was Evo) that an investigation was done by Mercedes into the odd handling at times on rough ground and they said that the rear wheels toe-in quite a lot under bump.

why where mercedes checking the handling on the Z4 !??! :?

Well it drive's ALOT better now really happy with it.Can't wait for some decent weather and some country lane roof down blasting :D
