I now have a Z4M and after if you like having a practice run with a 2.0i, I am now in the process of changing the fluids, and a few other jobs

So far

Moved the roof motor into the boot (without removing the roof this time) motor looks brand new and the sponge was bone dry.

Removed a MP3 box and an Alpine unit/box and some wires that looked like it was for an ipod (wide flat Ipod connection on the end of the wire. But the little plastic box bit al the bottom of the storage compartment in the centre bit in between the seats if anyone has one please let me know will put a wanted add up when I get home and take some pictures of what I am trying to describe.

Started to polish the car, got as far as the boot lid, one panel at a time.

Things to do soon

Change the diff oil. Is this the same oil as other Z's or is the M different.Done

Change the gearbox oil. Is this the same oil as other Z's or is the M different.

Change the engine oil and filter 10-60W oil and a bosch filter Oil and filter now changed. Mobil 1 10-60W

Change the coolant Is this the same oil as other Z's or is the M different.Coolant now changed old stuff looked good but now know it is all OK

Change the power steering fluid, is this just standard power steering fluid?

Wash and clean out the screen wash bottle as there is black bits floating around in it. Cleaned and filled with screen wash

Change the brake fluid Drained with easy bleed topped up with 3 month old left over from my 1 series dot 4 and drained again filled with DOT 5.1 the old stuff was very dark in colour so well over due and the service book suggests 2015 was the last time it was done

That should keep me busy for a few hours.

Photos to follow.

The oils are different, the coolant is standard bmw stuff, not sure on the power steering, I'd assume normal bmw, your manual should have it all in the back.

Look forward to the pics

You can search which fluids for your car here http://www.millersoils.co.uk/which-oil
Looking forward to the pics , you must have been grinning like a fool when you heard / drove the S54 after the 2.0i :driving:

Bmw now do modified oil for the diff on the M.
Stops them clunking and chattering.
Have done a couple now and have great results .
Something to consider..

I have always put amsoil MSF in the gearboxes of the M cars I had.. superb oil that helps sticky shifts..

Enjoy the S54 at 7k.

Not until I have changed the oil and filter I want to KNOW it is the right oil in there.

And the engine is all warmed up etc.

Newbie here. I'm looking at purchasing a 2006 roadster with approximately 75K miles. It has been sitting for about 2 years and driven about 30 miles during that time. First look and talking indicated main roof motor doesn't work, tire pressure light on, and air bag light on (squirrel's in neighborhood chewing wires maybe?). Where can I see info on moving roof motor to the boot (trunk to me) without removing the roof? Is any chance air bag light connected to low tire pressure (I doubt it, but...)? Battery was dead, had to jump start it. Could this be the cause of the air bag light? Any other advice? Things to specifically look for. Drove car in neighborhood, less than 30 mph , 1st/2nd gear, no tags so couldn't put on main road. $9-$11K (dollars) reasonable?

Fault lights almost certainly due to the dead battery these will need resetting after a new battery is fitted

Can you point me to any info on doing this move of the motor without removing the roof?
