Pressure Washer

Hi,

I'm looking into getting one. Anyone recommend any and from where? Something basic and good value.

Also, anyone know what's the max PSI that should be used?

Karcher without a doubt, I have one with a regulator so can adjust from 50 psi - 150 (which I use for the drive ...).

Handle with care on the car though.

Cant go wrong with a Karcher for build and power. However, personally i prefer to use some elbow grease and a basic hosepipe to bring up the shine on the Z's curves.

I have a top flight Karcher and highly recommend them.
Never touch the Zed with it though and keep it for the mud on Jeeps.
Personally never seen the need to hit aluminium panels with such high pressure water

Just seen this on another forum:

Buy one of these pressure washers, which are half price: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?catalogId=10151&storeId=10001&categoryId=-1&langId=-1&action=listrefine&scope=inl||partnumber||4||824136||825224||825232||825240&cm_cr=No+Campaign-_-Web+Activity-_-07-09-CARCLEAN-M-3-_-PRODCAT_ESPOTMAIN_165731-_-07-09-CARCLEAN-M-3

And you get this £50 Vac free: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_378035_langId_-1_categoryId_165640

Not bad if you're gonna buy one anyway. Tempted to get the cheapy one myself!

To be honest I mainly want it for the wheels. I used my cousin's one yesterday and the dirt slid off!! It was so easy and quick to clean that i could then clean them all the time. :D

I actually didn't find it any better on the actual car though.

So are there any negitives? Would it be safe to use on just the wheels? If there are (however small) then I'll stay clear of them.

Uh - you have M wheels and when I got mine changed due to flaking paint, the first question was if I used a pressure washer (which I don't for the Z).

There is a risk that you spray more off your wheels then you want ...

Excellent link.. they look like rebadged Karchers anyway, can anyone confirm?

Was about to buy one myself..

PS.. I've used a proper petrol pressure washer on my zed every time I go to my folks place, and as long as you're careful it does a great job, my wheels are fine. Guess it depends on how good a job they did when they made the wheels.

I bought a Karcher half price from Tesco Direct.

Still on offer - I just checked. Seems very good on my patio etc but haven't used it on the Z.
