Pressure washer.

I’m going to replace my 30+ year old Kew Hobby pressure washer as it’s getting too heavy for me to lug about. A new machine won’t need to last 30 years at my age

Is a £100 budget Machine ok? It will only be used to wash the patio in springtime and snow foam the cars occasionally.

I do have some Kew attachments and would possibly like to use them but it’s not a show stopper.

Any opinions would help please.

I purchased a £60 titan pressure washer from Screwfix recently, i rarely use them & this got great reviews - I’ve not been disappointed and it’s made in the UK to boot.

I paid £120 for one from lidl and it’s great. Come with a few attachments like patio cleaner round thing and has b built in detergent/cleaner bottle64F4806A-0B82-4262-81C8-F5733A1A16C3.jpegB0ACB8C4-835E-4222-97C8-F4C9382181B7.jpeg

Hi Ron

If going for cheaper end from my experience I would steer clear of Karcher, used mine once and next spring the pump failed, might be wrong but I think the cheaper end are made of plastic.

Replaced it with a Nilfisk which has an aluminium pump and been good so far. Lightweight and easy to move around.

For me it’s not about the make or the cost, although cheaper the better, it’s about the pressure. Too low and it’s useless to clean the patio.

Get the one best for you then do as my wife does, search for voucher or discount codes. It’s surprising with a bit of effort how much you can off prices. She has just bought a top of the range Shark vacuum cleaner for just over half price which was £100 cheaper than the basic model because that was the one with the discount code. Good hunting.

Look at the spec on the box of my lidl one. Very powerful and a 10m hose where most cheap ones have a 5m hose. Only problem is Lidl only sell these every now and again but if lucky they will have one. Got mine around 4 weeks ago

Plus 1 for Screwfix, the first one lasted over 7 years, this one is their £85 version, plenty of poke.

I have this one as well. Happy with it.

Are adaptors available across the brands ?
I bought on eBay the converters, they seemed to have just about any combination for any make. I changed mine from Kärcher to a generic click system

That cures a lot of indecision!
Ive got rotary brushes, patio cleaning gismo etc for the Kew machine.

I have a Karcher which I have had for five years and it has been fine. My mate has just bought a Titan from Screwfix. He paid just over £100 for the model he got and like others posting here he is delighted with it. I think I will be having a good look at these when mine packs in.

I have my dad’s 1975 Kärcher, still going well, my 1985 Kärcher also going well. I use those for the portable jobs and bought a Kranzle for the proper plumbed in one. But then that was about £700 for the unit alone but lovely quality

I borrowed a Karcher K2 this morning and found it much light to use than my elderly Kew Hobby - the downside was that it did not perform any better,
I was trying to remove the dead moss from my tarmac drive.

A neighbour saw me struggling and brought his Karcher K4 and although I was very sceptical at first, it did the trick. The lance produced a 70mm circular swirling pattern which has dislodged the moss.

The machine has a slightly higher pressure and a higher delivery volume. It may be that or is it the spray pattern?

The pattern I would say, I have the patio attachment that makes it circular and that clears moss. The straight power jet does not really do that

Another +1 for Screwfix.
I bought one to use at my local football club to clean down the mowers.
It has worked well and has a longer and more flexible hose than most

I’ve just bought a Kaercher K4

My decision was tempered by the offering of a lance that produced a 60/70mm swirl - It lifted the dead moss whereas the other direct HP blast didn’t seem to shift it.

I gave the others due consideration (thanks for the advice and opinions) but was eventually persuaded by the 10% Codgers Card /Wednesday discount at B&Q
They also applied. £10 voucher because I spent over £100

I got myself a Snow foam Gismo as well
