Pressure Washer Issues

Hi All...

Just bought a new pressure washer. Everytime I turned it on it ran for a second and cut out. Did this 5 times whilst I checked all the instructions. Cue much cursing and highering of blood pressure. Then I remembered that back in the day my 80's karcher was horizontal not vertical. So laid it down, turned it on and it worked perfectly. Then after shampooing I forgot to lay it down and turned it on in the vertical position and it worked perfectly! So...

1) Are you meant to lie them down horizontally?
2) Have I bought a slightly dodgy one?
3) Have I bought a definitely dodgy one?
4) Have I damaged it?

All advice gratefully received.

Which one did you buy?

There's usually a clue in how to use it in the manual or on the box.

Top Tip: Read The F*****g Manual!

Is it not just air in the water supply going into the Power Washer that's causing the issue?

Spear + Jackson - only one in stock and not prepared to wait. I did read the manual a dozen times and checked that water was running through before turning on.

Try pulling the trigger while it’s switched off, let the water run any air locks out. I think my Karcher does a similar thing. I think the karcher runs constantly regardless of trigger position but will not pull airlock out.

Often if the water pressure in, is low then the pressure washer will cut in and out. I find that if the washing machine is on at the same time then my Karcher complains.

I have had a few pressure washers over the years but none of them were sensitive to being vertical or horizontal. I would try it a few times now it appears to be working in either position. Should it not work I would take it back and ask for a replacement. But don’t take too long to make your mind up.
