Preparing for a long roadtrip with 35is

The problem with almost all these ‘get you home ‘ remedies is it assumes a nice nail in the tread type puncture….

Out of 6 punctures in the last 6 years that have happened to our family only one was a puncture in the tread …a small piece of road dressing through a brand new trailer tyre…

All the others were to the sidewalls bar one which was a 8mm bolt in the tread..

It doesn’t stop me taking rat tails and gloop but my primary option is AA recovery..

That’s where the E89 boot is the issue..realistically you can’t fit a space saver and have any luggage and have the roof down..

Of the 4 I’ve seen on Z4 runs none were repairable by any gunk or rat tails..

It’s probably the “luck of the draw” the last 3 punctures I’ve had in the last couple of years have all been screws in the tread and all been repairable, infact I’ve currently got a screw in one of my van tyres, that’s been in about 3 weeks now and only loosing a little bit of pressure over that time, note to self “get it fixed” 😁

Just got back from the trip. 5500 km later everythings quite good. Some issues with the engine misfiring with MHD stage 2, but flashed to stock on the road and everything was good for the rest of the trip.

Crazy places and exceptional roads :driving:

Good to hear you got home OK, but if those photos are anything to go by I'm sure we'd all like to see some more!

Excellent news and wonderful photos.

I find lakes at high altitudes fascinating.
How the hell do they happen? You would think somewhere, somehow gravity would take over and they would 'leak' away.
The weirdest thing is they often contain fish. Now that is a miracle.

Great pics BTW!

I would be packing a full set of injectors, HPFP, Water Pump, Sump gasket for engine and DCT and DCT sump pan. Plus a full set of tools, a ramp and all required oils etc.
Get it on a ramp before you go for a really good lok, oil leaks are commonplace ususallly preceeded by misting (as they call it).
The best recovery you can afford and warm clothes just in case

Oh and a rabbits foot and St Christopher necklace each :-)

I got back last Sunday, from a 5500 mile trip to Norway, back through Finland and Sweden, albeit by motorcycle. Norway is pretty special isn’t it. I went up to the Nordkapp, the jaw dropping scenery never seems to stop.
