Prepare yourself... Insurance!

Chris Knott - cant compete with adrian flux price at all. To be honest when i spoke to them last year they couldn't do anything competitive either - seems like their target market is old blokes with garage queens, really don't understand why we have a forum sponsored scheme with them if they only cover less than half the owners.

Manning may be the last bastion before i end up Adrian Fluxing.

Insurance is such a lame topic, one day ill get a nice quote.

A Manning the same, probably use the same underwriters.

....Sky Insurance is the winner! under cut Adrian Flux by ~£30 :)

700 fully comp all in, including the Mrs, who's still a baby. 5yrs ncb + mods included, plus any future ones no charge unless i start adding BHP to the engine :)

Only slightly less than last year sadly, i think the London postcode, having a youngen on the policy (she's 24..) and high power is what causes the price for me (im a wee 26yo).

Yeah that time of year, worth starting a thread to get the latest in the world of performance car insurance. I've made this M-specific as i'm probably looking for insurers dealing with high performance / future classic status (not that non-M's arent stupidly fast too.. but the M badge is the "its the fast one" tick as far as insurers are concerned)

I'm with Elephant (admiral group etc) currently, as they have less prejudice against London postcodes, but i'd like to move to a more friendly faced insurer, with track cover / protected NCB etc. Renewal from them has come out £150 more than last year - with no change to my status, not sure why (and thats after i rang and demanded discount...).

I've got a few mods, listed in sig, plus 5yrs NCD, no convictions etc (SAC 2 years ago though..) - i've sent off an application to classicline, any others i should consider?

I noted Greenlight no longer cover BMW's... !

Sky insurance, 2 years no claims £460, £50 access and circuitry car/windscreen ect

Annoyingly, Adrian flux came back with an offer £90 lower, however i cant now cancel the sky one without a £50 cancellation fee. (broker versus underwriter.. brokers can charge fees for their 'work').

Luckily they raised the policy i asked for.. under the wrong name and wrong address?! should be able to cancel that as it's invalid.

Might well be the London postcode. I've been with Chris Knott for around 5 years and they've always been very competitive. (38 years old, 10k miles per year, £425 premium)

Premium went up by £25 this year, but then i have managed to gain 2 sp30's in a year. Grrrr.

Elephant insured for me for £640 :-D

22 years old, 3 points and 4 years ncb.

Compared to the thousand I was getting quoted for the 2.5 focus etc :-(

I'm paying Chris Knott about 550-600ish, however thats to cover my Z4M and my V8 discovery.
All mods declared, business use on both cars, and the Z4 Garaged.

Admiral by far and away the cheapest for me.

£620 fully comp, aged 22 with 5 years NCB (protected) on a 2006/56 Z4MC. Was chuffed to bits with that!

I had a result with my insurance. last year I paid £1300, I've just turned 30 and got 11 years NCB. The renewal came through and is £420. I cant believe that turning 30 has affected the price that much, but its all I can put it down to. So very happy :D

Renewal came through from classic line at 421 which was pretty good but as insurance has supposed to have dropped i thought it worth a phone call, result, a discount down to 367. V. Happy

Wow, that seems excessive last year Oli T, not that I know your circumstances.

I'm getting annoyed with the annual song and dance. Renewal came through today
50yrs old
9yrs plus NCB
No voluntary excess
Legal cover
NCB protection
Guaranteed hire car plus
Multi car discount
All options declared
Renewal quote £581.94

Went on the website to price compare
£225.78

Price confirmed on phone and renewed.

What a pain in the arse. If they automatically renewed at best price they'd keep customers and save a fortune in staff time while they check details and match prices etc. /rant

True Stuart. What a saving. I also find it ridiculous that the renewal price is inflated compared to if you run another quote through the company's own website or a price comparison site (as found before) plus also this year for the family's Fiesta. One year in the past I pulled up an insurance co for this on the phone, I was told the price for renewal was generated earlier and the better quote I got by not auto renewing but calling them on the phone was cos it was later. Whaat :poke: :tumbleweed:

I have been with Pace Ward for the last three years, found them very helpful they even covered all the mods on the GT for not much more. Well worth a chat with them

My renewal was significantly more than my previous years premium, searching around i managed to DROP 25% in the end.

Great thread, my renewal quote is £800 more than what I paid last year!!??

I'm going to sit by the phone and give some of the companies mentioned a go....

sussex, 28years old, 5 years NCD, all mods declared. £450 with admiral (though money supermarket.com - much cheaper than go compare etc).

I'm 50+ and got insured with Esure for a grand total of £180 for the year with 13 years NBC, standard ///M car, living in Suffolk

+1 for Esure.

I'm paying £348 FC with PNCB on an MCoupe at 25 with 5 years NCB and also in Suffolk. Bargain I thought :driving:

I took the policy out on my birthday, it was £200 more a day before at 24 years of age! Finally feel like I'm getting decent value insurance after years of paying >1k.
