Thought this was interesting, for those interested......

Nice to feel somewhat vindicated in my feeling tha the Teso 99 is a great improvement over standard '95. Suprising how much behind Shell comes.

but not interesting, for those not interested - hehe :poke:

All that proved to me is premium fuel is just not worth it in terms of performance. Jury still out on whether you get better mpg though. In terms of performance I'd rather just put the difference in fuel costs in the kitty (jar or money, not pussycat) towards getting a better car :)

Wonder who sponsor them... cough cough :D

The difference between the results for premium unleaded brands is well within the bounds of experimental error. I wouldnt read anything into the fact optimax is lower than the other two.

Just started using Sainsbury's Super 97 Ron, seems to offer similar performance to tesco 99 but onlt 1 pence dearer than premium

Sainsburys gets my vote too, mainly because its the closest! 97 Ron so not rocket fuel but better than boggo for the engine I'd have thought, cheap and nectar points for the missus!

+1 i've always used tescos sul in my ///m except for one time last year when i could'nt put that in so put shell vpower in the car and 35 miles down the road the engine light came on,it was one of the lambda sensors which had gone!
maybe just coincidence but :?

Not unheard of for Tesco fuel to cause problems: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/6421783.stm

4 year old story not really Tesco petrol per se, but a 1/3 party fuel store.

Its interesting; I know a couple of tanker drivers on other motoring threads (4x4s, I'm not a closet trucker thanks!) who say that several nationals and a couple of supermarkets all collect their fuel from the same depot as them. These guys weren't aware of the practice (but then they work for a single supplier) but I'd also heard from a couple of sources that the alleged differences are because of additives put into the tanker at filling stage.

No clear evidence though so who knows...... :?
