Pre tensioning belt

Anyone know if the current z had pre tensioning seat belts?
Out for a spin with my bro and he thought it was getting tighter as we were throwing it around some bends.

Cheers

In the SLK they tense when you snap them in the holder....buy a couple of CM....almost like taking in the slack

The E Class does this too... it's quite a wonderful feeling... like the car wants to protect you

Interesting about the lack of electric pretensioners on the E89; not many cars have them in fact. My friend surprised me with the electric pretensioners in his lowly Alfa Romeo MiTo; every time we hit a bump (so every other second) they'd tighten up, and they really helped keep you in your seat when he threw the little thing around bends (and he really threw it- thing grips like a terrier. He said it had a mechanical LSD and passive rear steer).

I suppose they aren't included on the E89 for safety reasons; a pyrotechnic system is more reliable in a roll-over or if the power suddenly dies. I'd like to think it's about making the car more of a GT; electric ones are very fidgety on a rough troad and stop you freely moving about in your seat. The US market, surely BMW's prime focus for the Z4, doubtless wouldn't take kindly to electric items constantly tightening and loosening, tightening and loosening...

I justify the lack of an LSD in the same way. Makes the car more comfortable. (wishful thinking I know- BMW probably didn't want the Z competing with the M3 dynamically...). The seatbelts do feature Load Limiters though. What are these?
