Pre Mapping the E89

Seem to remember post's of a pre-service ?

A run down to Cornwall from Kent seems about to happen, so, would a tank of RON97 and new plugs
before the run down be a good idea.

Advice please. :)

re-map stresses all components more..

So best to put new plugs at a min plus air filter..really coils should be done..

Earlier models HPFP sags under the strain..

Flush all 95 out and use 98 RON for at least a full tank before re-map

Post re-map ECU adapts further often with 5-10 bhp after 200-500 miles

As per B21 above - replaced plugs and coils and ran the car on Shell V-Power for a couple of weeks before it was scheduled for a remap.

I would suggest a full service before a remap.
Oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs. And any intake/valve cleaning that you can do beforehand.

On a previous car that i had remapped i did not feel much of a difference afterwards until i had a terraclean done. And then i realised the full potential. Albeit, that was aturbo diesel.

As the post above, remapping stresses all components, especially turbos. And turbos need good clean oil frequently changed.

FWIW and IMHO, the N20 engines don't usually need much of an intake clean as they have a much better oil fume scavenge system..always one that disproves the rule..

Oil and filters are new so tick.

A run down on a full tank of premium. Tick.

So new coils and plugs and should be good to go ?

Yup from August 2014 there was a better HPFP..not sure where your's falls..unlikely to be an issue unless you go past circa 270bhp..

And I would have thought that the HPFP will cope 99.9% of the time you use it, only really coming close to it's limit when you get nearer those high bhps. I doubt that in reality you'll manage that very often.
