Pre-Facelift Sport Seat Occupancy Sensor Part Number?

Hi all,

I have just purchased a set of sport seats from a 2006 Roadster. Obviously as mine is a 2003 I will need to replace the occupancy sensor.

I am assuming pre-facelift sport seats will be a straight swap in a pre-facelift car? If this is correct I should be able to purchase a pre-facelift sport seat occupancy sensor from BMW and fit that to prevent the air bag light and seat belt warning? If so does anybody have any idea what the part number is for a pre-facelift sport seat?

I have had a look on Realoem for a 2004 car (there are no sport seat numbers listed for 2003, I am assuming this is because sport seats were only available from 2004). There are 8 part numbers shown for a 2004 car as can be seen on this link.

It is a bit confusing to know which one is for the sports seat and which one isn't? If anybody could assist I would be extremely grateful!

Cheers Navid, I hadn't thought about the control box!

I was hopeful that somebody may have had to replace these would be able to confirm the part number. I wlll be speaking to the dealer, but they have got things wrong for me in the past and I wouldn't be surprised if they did again!

Well I ordered the part from Jamie at Sopers. With forum discount it came to £103 including delivery.

I am not sure of the part number yet, but I will update this post when it has arrived (and I have confirmed it is the right part) as this might be useful for people doing future installs :)

I wonder if it is the same part for the standard seats? If so, I'd be very interested as I think mine might be playing up. I put my mobile phone and wallet on it the other day, which seemingly was enough for it to think that there was a person there..... now, my wallet is never THAT heavy!! Not since I started modding anyway

the sensor mats are different for standard and M Sport seats, although they fit! if you want to change yours, order the correct one for your seat rather than the M sport one.

Thanks navid.... I may take a look on realoem later on. I've just got the seat belt plugged in for the moment!!

Hello

My Z4 is from 2003 and have also the airbag light on. Is it dificult to change the sensor mat? Do you have pictures of the job? Any advise on how to replace the sensor mat is welcome. Cheers

Hi and welcome :)

have a look at this post re sensor removal/replacement

http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=23646#p331649

I've done it on my seat, not an easy job but possible, time consuming and requires a lot of patience :)

Hi mate,

As Navid said it is do-able, however it is a bit fiddly at times (mainly unclipping the leather from the base of the seat) however once you get into it it is pretty straight forward.

I used the guide that Navid has posted a link to, plus Imp75's very useful guide to remove the seat base from the frame

For information the part number for the pre facelift standard seat is

65776927893

The part number for the pre facelift sport seat is

72107919202

As it happened I was sent the wrong part when I ordered through Jamie at Sopers! I don't blame Jamie at all as it is difficult to make out the correct part number using realoem.

I was originally sent the standrard seat sensor, so hopefully the part numbers above will help people get the right ones first time in future!
