Pre-facelift Rear Lights

I've got some vinyl to make mine all red, and after seeing a post on here (now can't find) I want to take the black slice of bodywork off the lights so the rears are 'one red light'.

Any idea how this comes off? Just stuck on? I tried the finger nail pull and didn't seem to move.

Thanks

Yes, just on with 3M tape. I was missing one so I popped the other off...just used a plastic putty knife to pry it off...took 30 seconds

Are you fitting the vinyl over the entire outer lamp or just the indicator amber? I'm considering this and interested to see how you get on.......

Chances are with vinyl/film they'll be too red - I think you're better off trying tint spray...

I've tried film but it produced completely red light. I removed the film and resprayed with a few coats of red tint instead. I thought they were orange enough but Mr MOT said otherwise

I've since removed the tint back to nil and started again with far less tint. Mine definately look orange when flashing (I've verified this for MOT purposes) but do retain a slight amount of orange when off:

Right, for anyone wanting to do this... DO NOT USE TINT FILM.

F'ing pita, spent a couple hours having several attempts, but just couldnt get it to stick perfectly without the odd crease due to the profile of the lights.

Attempt 2 was to use circles over the indicators rather than the full light face, but these again had the same issue over the indicator profile.

Managed to cover only the smaller, more flat, reverse light.

I will get some tint spray instead!!

On the plus side i fitted clear side repeaters and new badges!

I had the same anti orange rear light syndrome

I came across an eBay seller that can get hold of 2nd hand facelift rear lights - I bought a set for £150 Inc of postage (4 day delivery)

His eBay tag is gmwparts if anyone wants to see if he still can obtain these (obviously a facelift bumper and a 2 min rejiggering of the rear light wires is required)
