Pre facelift fog light fitment?????

I have ordered a set of these

i plan to put them in the fog light and make them come on with the ignition for daytime running lights. Since I never use the fogs I like the idea behind audi srips but they just look to chavy they are great though for safety.... on a grey car like mine you need something thats eye catching. I think this solution may just work without turning the car from stock too much?

I echo the sentiment of needing something to make a zed, especially the darker colours, visible. Audi led's are great for this but they're for Audis (although Porsche Merc and others have adopted them now).
Problem I have is running foglights 'on', even though they are intended to be DRL's it looks too 'teenage Corsa' or you forgot, etc. and it's a pet hate of mine to see cars with fogs on - front or rear.
I'm thinking of doing it but to rewire my ccfl angel eyes to drl's as no mistake then, they are passive light rather than a projected beam and look in keeping with BMW AE light theme. If I were doing something different I'd still go with light inside the headlight, be that the sidelight or extra bulbs/leds somewhere.

Thats a good point, although at least round here (and its not an amazing area!) you dont see it that often these days. I remember around 1999-2003 everyone had huge subs in the back of thier cars along with strange color fog lights, LED's on the washer nozzles, tubes under the cars lighting the road.... fog lights that changed colour depending on angle viewed even some people had blue ones.... crazy! Poice loved to issue tickets and fog lights being on was something they could use.....
I think the key is making sure they are DRL and are not on at night and dont look anything out of the ordinary. I am thinking something along the lines of a relay to switch them off when sidelights are turned on. I will see what it looks like, but good idea with the AE, If I ever get round to the headlight mod for clears I wil source some AE like yours that are very bright and would make perfect DRL, you would also not need any load resistors etc to keep the bulb out light off.

Thats an interesting one, as these days with most newer cars having DRL LED the police would have to distinguish between DRL and fog lights as at one time you saw volvos only with DRL's (correct me if im wrong but didnt they utilize the fog light?) The issue with fog lights was they dazzle oncoming traffic at night if left on with the main headlights. From the tests I have done so far with LED lights fitted to reflector housing they do not project like standard bulbs do the reason for this is the relector housing a standard bulb sits in is designed for that bulb so the element of the bulb is in certain position for the reflector to project it onto the road optimally. With the LED bulbs, the light source is all over the bulb and in one direction only so you find while they are great at looking brighter and whiter they dont throw any light out as the beam is not concentrated. So perfect for indicators, marker lamps and brake lights etc but useless as fog lights or headlights.
