Pre Facelift/Facelift seat swap

Hi,

I've had a (quick) look and can't find the answer i'm after, so....

I have a 2005 pre facelift and my son has a 2006 facelift. I have M all leather sports seats and he has half leather M sport seats.

I'm buying his car and want to swap my seats in to it, i've read a bit about different connectors on pre/post facelift cars - can anyone tell me if they should just swap straight over?

Both manual and heated.

Thanks,

Glenn

Its just over a year since I did mine and although my memory has faded I remember it being very straight forward. The only issue I had was the seat occupancy sensor which I bypassed to trick the car into thinking the car is permanently occupied. After getting fed up with always having to have the passenger seat belt clip in I bought a seat belt clip (ebay) to stop the warning sounding when no one is in the seat.

However that was swapping 2005 standard seats with 2007 m sport ones into a 2005 car. With you swapping m sport for m sport you may not have to do the bypass. The reason I had t do it is there are hardware/software differences between pre facelift standard seats and post facelift m sport ones. But I have no idea it pre facelift m sports already have the same hardware/software as the later cars.

Hi Mack,

Thanks for the reply. I'd read a bit about the sensor but as you say i think i'll be ok in that regard.

I'll get both cars together and have a good look with a torch to see if connectors are the same then give it a go i think!

If they are both manual and heated just swap the seat bases over then it will definitely work on both as they will be using their original bases

Simple swap seats, by a passenger occupancy bypass plug off eBay, code car to deactivate seat belt chime.

If you look under the passenger seat at the back ,pre facelift have a little black box which is part of the seat occupancy set up.If your pre facelift does not have one your seats will be a straight swop.
If the black box is present you will need to transfer this onto the facelift seats. You will also need to buy an emulator ,to fool the occupancy sensor, this plugs into the black box..Their is another part which stops the seat belt light flashing when the seat is not occupied.I bought mine off eBay from a chap in N Ireland, cost about £12Passenger Seat Occupancy Mat Bypass BMW Airbag Sensor Emulator + Belt Simulator.
