Pre Facelift Angel Eye Mod

FInally got round to finishing these (ish). The reason i didn't go for the full clear lenses was because i couldn't find any at the right price when i was looking for some. I'm aware that it is possible to buy a pair of clear ones and sell your old ones and recoup most of the cash, in my case due to damaging my old light i didn't have time to wait around.

Total cost of this mod was £23 consisting of £16 for the Angel Eyes and £7 for some Tigerseal to stick the lights back together.

I used a similar method to the one pioneered by CJ, however by dremeling around the edge of the headlights i was able to stick them back together again without needing to butcher an entire 2nd set of lights (expensive).

A very easy mod to do on the whole, if time consuming. I wired the halos into my sidelights. The hardest part by a country mile was getting the rings to stay in place while i glued them because the ones i bought were about 5mm too big to slot inside the refelectors which would have made them easy to set in place. I'm not 100% happy with the result as some of the glue is visible from outside. But they do look awesome at twilight/night and i'm not complaining for £23!

(you can view the latter two pictures in high-res to see the rings better)

Good work on having the courage to chop the lights up and fit the AE.
The light hey giv out looks awesome.
From the photos the outer ring doesn't seem to sit correctly? If it is as it appears I'd have got some smaller rings and fastened them right into the bezel for a neater install.

You're right. For a start a couldn't find anywhere on the internet which would sell me 50mm 'thin' rings. The place which supplied yours no longer lists them on their website. A couple of other guys on this forum have used a particular set from US ebay, but the rings are a bit 'thicker' than i wanted.

This is when i lost the will to live. I found these on UK ebay which seemed perfect. Apart from the fact that they took 6 weeks in the post from China and when they arrived they ended up having a 5-10mm wider total diameter than they should have. (despite the seller confirming in his Q&A that they were infact 50mm exactly. So i decided to fit them anyway, took the car apart, cut the lights open and then... i accidently shattered one of the rings. So i have to wait 6 more weeks while i 2nd set is sent to me from China, meanwhile my headlight lenses has to be held on with gaffer tape for the entire time inbetween (including half a dozen laps of the nurburgring and 140mph+ autobahn action!)

When they finally arrived i wasted no time in puting it all back together. Then the headlight started steaming up, seems ive missed a small hole when glueing it back together, so it all had to come apart AGAIN!

It looks superb on the move but when you look closely you can tell it's not flush with the bezel. There is no reason whatsoever which i cant swap over for some smaller ones if i can locate some, tigerseal is strong but can be sliced open with a sharp knife. That said i'm still having a nightmarere moving the bumper, those clips where the bumper meets the wing are a 'mare, where can i buy a 'special tool'?!

Sounds like you had a real task on then to get it sorted. I didn't have it easy and nearly purchased 50 made to size from HK co $50.

Not sure what you mean about the bumper clips. They just lock together and snap apart.
