Pre-facelift 3rd brake light - Swap onto a facelift?

I was wondering whether I could fit the old red style brake light lense for my clear one. Is that easy? Would think it'd look nicer with a red brake light on Imola Red.
 
As far as I know they are the same fitment. A search should give you the answer. Mine needed to be replaced a while back, and both red or clear were good to fit....

Would I just need a lense, or a whole unit of sorts?

If just the lense, ideal! Anyone got a P/N for the dealers?
 
I'm pretty certain the lense isn't available separately I'm afraid. You should be able to find the part number pretty quickly on www.realoem.com.

You should have looked at ebay today - i sold my 3rd red brake light today for £50 (maybe to someone on here?)
 
Shame! I'll just pick one up from the dealer I guess! What should I type into eBay to search for it?
 
Just going by RealOEM, but seems they may be cheaper than £100! I'm hoping for nearer £50 new, based on some old threads. If that's the case, I will be buying one! Should look lovely with Imola!
 
That would be good, but I need the car every day, so couldn't be without mine - Unless you're ever near Swindon?
 
Yeah, I've emailed Joe to see what he says. The red one costs more, but will be happy @ £50.
 
I was £70 from stealership in Dundee - John Clarks BMW. I got the red one though, the clear was cheaper at £56 :x
