I am sure it would have been discussed before and i found out on another forum whilst googling the questions first that someone has done a straight swap but i know the guys on here know best :D

Will facelift headlights fit a pre facelft car.

I rang bmw they said you have to change the wings and bonnet for them to fit....

i am hunting for the last of the pre facelift 2005 set with clear indicators.... have done no work today....

:D

change the wings and bonnet :o not to my knowledge....

I think the issue is mainly to do with the wiring etc but I could be wrong... cj10jeeper with know :D

Stephen James BMW in Enfield said this!!!!!!!!! it didnt sound right but then thought i dont really know to argue...he didnt mention anything about wiring....

I know CJ has mentioned something about LCM in previous posts...

I am dropping a set of 108s to be refurbished at Sytner Chigwell in the next couple of days....so will see what they say....they are cheaper than all local garages will let everyone know the result when its done...

As far as I can tell, sheet metal is the same, but wiring was different as per CJ's write up

AFAIK the only styling changes to the facelift was:

Front bumper (interchangeable with old)
Front lights - amber delete and maybe some other thing
Rear bumper and rear lights - NOT interchangeable with old)
clear side indicators
no change to bonnet or wings or doors...

Check Part Nos.63127165687 &63127165688 these are clear with chrome and fit a 2005 2.2i .I think these are spec for a 3.0si

From the reaserch I've done I belive halgens are a direct swap. Xenons have different wiring and LCM will require reprogramming.

In terms of shape they are identical, so no changes to wings, etc required...

Peddy is right - the lights are actually exactly the same externally and so fit without any issue. My experience is all in the xenon area but as Peddy points out the facelift in some cases used the old style inners and lights so are a direct swap, benfittting from clear indicators

Xenon you need to as a minimum reprogramme the LCM and change some wiring. I only know of one person to do it describing it as way outside the realms of sensible That said my works has been focussed on cutting and altering lights not rewiring and as with all mods the knowledge pool continues to increase as the cars age, so if someone has a workaround for post facelift xenon to fit then love to see it.

Sorry to post from another forum...but good news im not a member there but this is what one guy done....http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72782

Ive been thinking why dont i just dremel around the glass bit and then just seal it onto the old backs...seems too simple and im sure one of you guys would have done...

Just dropped 108s heavily corroded and purchased from Mr Whale to BMW to be refurbished....they said shouldnt corrode again anytime soon...

Here's one for you guys...

My Z originally had Halogen lights, but the owner before me paid to have Xenons fitted. This included the water spray, the autoadjust and even put the yellow warning stickers on.

The only way I could tell this was modified was that my light console has the beam adjust control.

My question therefore is, has someone bought an entirely new xenon headlamp? or modified the previous halogen? How can I tell?

I want to do the amber delete, but I'm unsure which lamp to buy

He probably got an indy to reprogram the LCM. Check to see if you can manually adjust the lights.

I can't. They dont do anything...

Does this mean new xenon headlamps were installed? rather than halogen ones modified...

My money is on the previous guy changing to OEM Xenon headlights and then just reprogramming the LCM instead of changing it. Another possibility is that BMW installed the wrong LCM and programmed it to a Xenon version?? :?

Do you not have any contact details of the previous owner?

Either way it seems you have OEM Xenons.

Yeah I'm thinking they're OEM which makes it more annoying that they were changed to pre facelift ones! Especially as it's a 55 reg, so clear ones would have been available.

I dont really want to contact the owner again, even if its for something as trivial as this.

I'm going to have to take a close look to see what I need to buy. Unless this magical american company can do these orange deletes...

Oh and thanks for the rear light advise Peddy. They've just been dispatched :)
