Pray for me.

OK, guys.

I am an Atheist of the firmest conviction, but nevertheless, I ask those of you with a belief in the Almighty to remember me in your prayers. Even if you don't believe in God, ask Fate/Santa/Isis/Lady Luck to be nice.

Yes, incredibly, the long-running saga of my attempts to purchase a working/undamaged/all-bits-present-and-correct Z4 is not over.

Tomorrow I am going to inspect a Z4 Coupé at the dealers. On paper (and I type this haltingly, half-afraid of causing the Universe to have one last attempt to pee on my parade) the car is fine. No obvious parts missing (no front PDC, but...); the paintwork is meant to be fine; the electrics seem to be hunky-dory...

It can't f**k up for a third time. Can it? No. It'll be fine. I'll just keep repeating that mantra ("it'll be fine... cool calm water... it'll be fine, deep breaths...")

Oh, and loved the Canada-bashing in the last thread of mine. Oh which note, I'll attempt to add a url to one of my favourite sketches from Mystery Science Theater 3000. Those from a certain bacon-producing nation may want to avert their eyes. :fuelfire:

Will keep y'all posted!

It's all about good karma. I am an atheist as well but if you do good things, good things will happen( eventually).
All the best !!

Wanna buy mine?
It is well cared for, never garaged, only sees occasional track time, is never driven in the rain (when the sun is out), and has a wooden dash that seems to be universially hated on your side of the pond. Oh, and the steering wheel is on the wrong side (for you).

No?

Ok, then best of luck on your Quest. I'll sacrifice a small (unproductive) elf to Santa for you.

Thanks to all for sending good vibes! Interesting that we seem to be a lot of heathens!

Feeling a little guilty about the poor elf. But, on the other hand, I really want this car to work out, so I say "bring forth Santa's mistletoe-encrusted elf-dagger!"

Don't lose sleep over the elf. He was stealing toys and selling them on eBay.

If you guys were truly atheists, you wouldn't be asking people to pray for you because you wouldn't believe in the existence of God or gods. The fact that you're asking for people to pray for you means you're more likely agnostic.

Excuse me while I return to my quest of reaching enlightenment.

...and so, it's here. The Z4 is sitting on my driveway and, so far, has not fallen to bits.

A bird has parked its breakfast on the paintwork, the 'convenient opening' option doesn't actually exist (according to the car/key memory print-out) which is a pain, and the bluetooth is confusing. Aside from those minor points, all seems well.

Looks like the elf did not die in vain!

What's the full spec you got then? Was it a showroom car or a demo?

Car was ready-built but not pre-registered. Spec is absolutely nothing to get thrilled about: imagine a black Z4 3.0si sport coupe without most of the add-ons and you have the right idea. The first one I had (the lemon) was specced up to the eyeballs, most of it didn't work too well. This one has a CD changer, not-very-good bluetooth, black leather/aluminium interior... and that's about it. Decided to steer clear of the high-end hifi: the Zed rumbles a lot on the country lanes I drive on, and the gentle classical music I listen to just gets lost in the acoustics and road rumble. Ignored the out-dated sat-nav and especially the voice control that caused so much aggro on my first Zed

On another note, persuaded my boyfriend to try the 635d. Holy cow does that thing have serious shove! Going to add that to the list of potential next purchases.

And for the guy who asked for a pic, sure: won't be any different from dozens of other black Zeds but will comply... just as soon as I can work out how to mask out the "cherished" registration number. Looks cool at the mment as we have 3 sapphire black BMWs sitting on the driveway: 118iSE, 320d Coupé and now the Zed. Just how many cars dies a childless couple need?

I have not personally driven her yet as I was feeling a bit ill: my other half had to do the honours, Still, feeling a bit more human tonight so tomorrow I'll be :) :driving: :)
