............ for a while in Holland when I was there ..... if you were caught for speeding 70 kph over the speed limit - they took the car, no matter what it was or who owned it, that got people's attention.

I'd really support the same for drink driving ...... but it will never happen here :D drinking and driving is very much part of our culture ......

In Canada it is 50 KM over the speed limit and they take your car, not only that your licence is gone for a year as well .... so not worth it I say, why take chances if a safe drive home is just a phone call away for a taxi. Unless the taxi gets hit and destroyed by a drunk driver :(

I don't know what age you are but when I started driving in the 70's, drink driving was at epidemic levels in comparison to the present. It may not seem like it but I promise you significant changes in attitude have taken place since then and it is an ongoing process. I'm very much against much of the anti motorist legislation that been introduced but confiscation of vehicles from drink drivers is something I would support too.

Personally think anyone who drinks and drives should be done for manslaughter its like being pissed and pointing a loaded gun at an innocent great video and just because they have to live with it big deal what about the innocent victims ? way to lenient in the uk i think great video

I agree with content of the video. It certainly got my attention in that although I don't ever drink and drive, I think I'll maybe drive a bit slower from now on

One point I feel is important though - there are always going to be plenty of a**holes who actually don't give a toss about anyone else, and would not even consider giving up a couple of pints in order to potentially save someone's life.

IMO the law is too easy on bad drink-drive offenders. I was following a guy a few weeks ago who was swaying all over the road. When he suddenly decided to turn left into a side road he drove right onto the pavement on the other side of the road, narrowly missing a couple of pedestrians - and he didn't/couldn't stop even then. It was unbelievable.

To me, any one who drives in a state like that deserves never to drive again and be put inside for a while to contemplate exactly what he's done. Oh and act of driving over the alchohol limit when already banned should also carry a life ban
