Power Source to Hard Wire Speed Camera Detector

Anyone looking to hardwire a speed camera detector around the dash area can make appropriate connections as below.

I took the ignition switched live lead from the connector that goes into the back of the radio. It's pin 16 and has a purple and white wire. I took the ground from pin 15 on the same connector and this is a thicker brown wire. Fairly straightforward job although there isn't much wire to play with. All that is required is removing the centre air vent and then the radio to gain access to the connections at the rear.

I should add that my car is a 06 Z4MC as the wiring will differ between model years.

No one has piped up so here is what I did for power.

I found a switched fuse, only comes on with the key. Some fuses have power continuously. Then I went to the auto store and picked up something called "AddaFuse".

Here is a pic from Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Littelfuse-FHA200BP-Fuse-Add-Circuit/dp/B0002BGELQ

This ingenious device allows quick and easy installation of additional accessories without the need for splicing. Includes installation instructions. Max rating: 10 amps.

The bottom fuse is for the load that is in that fuse position, and the top fuse is for your new accessory.
