Power folding mirror button.

Hiya, I have a Z4 2003. My power folding mirrors are stuck folded and the button on the window switch doesn't work.
I opened it up the window switch and noticed that it had corroded due to some fluid getting onto it. I tried to solder with no luck.
I haven't had much luck sourcing a replacement switch without spending around £100.
I am now stuck with power windows folded in. I am not really bothered about having the folding mirror working, so just want to activate it once to get them folded out. Anyone know how I could do this?
Thanks

Hello and welcome.

Can’t help with your issue but maybe worth adding your location as their may be another member locally that would let you “borrow” their switch to at least activate the mirrors if there’s no work around/manual fix.

Welcome aboard.
Buy a non-folding switch unit. Take the cover off and you'll see it's the same underneath. Swap the button across from yours and it should work.

The mirrors are designed to be manual fold as well as powerfold. So just man handle them into the position you want them.

Thanks everyone. I am in Swanley Kent.
I didn't know that they were the same switch. I will order one and get back to you all. In the meantime I will try and force them open. Car isn't used because of the mirrors.
Fingers crossed.

Your mirrors will take quite a bit of force to move as, being powerfold, they won't be worn on the manual slip ring.

These just popped up:

I have been checking every few days and have now just bought them.
Thanks guys.
I got this Z4 off my brother who had it for many years. He loved it that much that he wanted it to stay in the family. Hopefully this fixes the folding mirrors and then the next thing is fixing the folding roof and the leaking passenger footwell. Also water comes out the rear seal when parked on a hill. My kids tell me it's weeing.

Roof should be an easy fix. Plenty of us about who can help or advise on that.
For me the priority would be the leaking passenger footwell. Very first thing you should do is get the carpet up in the rear outer corner, find the airbag module, mounted on the sill at the rear edge, and wrap it in a poly bag. Especially as its a 2003 model, as they seem to have a batch of modules that are very hard to find.
I would also check the drivers side and bag that one up too.
The water can get in several ways: check the door membrane by running a hose along the base of the window and looking to see if water comes in along the base of the door card: if the drain under the roof motor is blocked then the well can fill up with water and eventually run down into the cabin behind the seat: if the scuttle panel is full of leaves and debris then water cannot drain from it and seeps in around the top of the pollen filter housing.
