Power adaptor always on?

Just a quick question. Got one of those Belkin MP3 tuner gizzmo's and a power adaptor along with it.

The adaptor's green light is always on even if the ignition is switched off, locked etc - just wanted to know if this is an issue i.e. will it drain the battery/cause any issues and is this normal - I thought the light should go out??

Cheers.

Hmmm... sounds like its drawing power with ignition off so may drain the battery

The power source on the Z4 is always on. You could fit a switchable multi socket to it which will allow you to turn to power on and off. The only problem I found that a multi socket adaptor seemed to increase background noise on my FM transmitter. In the end I had a Dennison Link fiited which solved the problem

You need an electronics expert like Shipkiller to chip in here, but I reckon all you have is an LED in your adaptor powered up from the socket to tell you it's plugged in. Current draw will be next to zero for the LED alone, <0.1w

Once you connect your device to it then the current drawn increases, to charge the device while in use or fully charged.

Thanks for that - can any sparks confirm this or otherwise?

You sure it does not shut down when the car goes to sleep after 15 minutes?

It stays on. I left my sat nav plugged in one night and eight ours later it was still on. No harm done at that time though.

Im sure thats correct, my old E46 used to shut down after ten minutes and would come back on upon unlocking or opening the door etc, Im sure its all controlled by the ibus,

No - we deiscussed this before and I tested it and stays on 27/7

27/7 ... what universe are you in? :D

a totally blonde one at the moment

For the project I'm on at the moment there are not enough hours in a day, so I've added a few

I Kinda gave up on this one but have now been on the look out for a single adaptor with an on/off switch but can only find double adaptors which I do NOT want.

I wonder why this car doesn't disconnect the power when every other car I've ever had does (and I've had a lot of cars - most of them crap n'all!)?

Also - if anyone see's or know's where I can purchase a single adaptor with an on/off switch do let me know, thanks.
