Powder coating interior trim??

Hi, I've decided to change my brushed aluminium trim to piano black. I'm seriously thinking about having them painted next week. As the parts are metal a friend suggested powder coating instead. I would have to paint or wrap door handles though as they are plastic
Any suggestions??
 
Not got any advice from my experience, but neilthomas has had his dash sprayed to match the exterior colour of his car (orange 8) ), so he may be able to advise ? If he doesn't chip in here, worth PMing him. IIRC mrlozzer also had his done sterling grey but he's not on here much anymore as he sold his Z...
 
I think paino black has to be done right. I.e. good base, then 3-4 layers of paint and follow up with few layers of clear. Polish paint between layers, and polish to high gloss final product. Not easy! Probably cheaper to source used, no?

We sell high gloss coatings into the Marine and Kitchen markets, you only polish the final coat, the usual process is 2 coats of primer, Polyester/Polyurethane on the first day then topcoat the next day wet on wet about 20 mins apart, leave for 24hrs then polish :thumbsup:

Yeah i telephoned a place in Glasgow today and there going to get back to me with a price.
 
Is it really difficult to remove the 2x dash trims and centre console trim?

Don`t think powder coating plastic is a good idea,brings a lot off problems.it can be done,but plastic is a insulator so you will struggle to get a great finish. I would be going down the Hydrographics road, :thumbsup:

Sorry mate, i'm not powder coating plastic. Interior trim is aluminium and door handles are plastic but they are getting painted :thumbsup:

If you add up the cost of having all those parts professionally painted, or indeed just sourcing second hand parts, that price looks very very good indeed. In fact I'd go so far as saying that's a feckin bargain :thumbsup:
