Powder coating exhaust trims!

I removed the the exhaust trims this morning to give them a bit of a clean they came up not to bad but to be honest i think the winter weather as taken it's toll on them.
The question is can they be powder coated to restore them to there former glory, and will the heat affect them if they are powder coated ,it was just a thought as i know a friend who does powder coating so he could do them done on mates rates
I want to get a similar finish if poss which is a matt silver or am i better just buying a new set.

You'd be better painting them with matt black barbecue paint or something like that I reckon (Like cj10jeeper on his M backboxes). Would look good though, interesting idea.

I went ahead and got my exhaust trims powdercoated and to be honest very impressed with the results,i forgot to take some before pics but here are the results.

And what they look like on the car

The guy sandblasted them back to bare metal inside and out and then powdercoated them then gave them a coat of laquer.
After two 300 mile runs over the past week they still look good,i was worried that the heat would affect them but they still look good the day they were done

This was done as an experiment if it didn't work then off to the dealers i would go for a new set.
The third pic is after a run down to Wiltshire from Durham (300 miles) so stood up well to the heat

What are the exhaust trims made out of originally?
I spent a couple of hours trying to polish mine up the other day on the car without much success.

I think the trims are made of steel with a matt chrome finish,the trims just pull off but if they have been on the since new they might take a bit of effort.
Once they're off you will be able to give them a proper clean i used Autosol metal polish,i got my trims powdercoated because they took a bit of a battering in the winter.
