Powder coating 224s - any risk?

Hi chaps, I was about to book my z4m alloys for a refurb but one of the sites I visited suggested powdercoating can damage aluminium wheels. I'm not sure if this has any factual basis - what are your thoughts on this? Should I stick to paint to be safe? T

Had mine powder coated with diamond cut edge and there was no issue although I sold the car less than a year later.
I think other members will likely have had the same sort of thing done and I'm sure Mr Wilks will know.

There is this speculation on the internet that the heat from powder coating can damage alloy wheels. It's a load of rubbish.

They should only see a maximum of 200 degrees C for about 15 minutes. No chance of any damage.

Cheers guys that's what I figured, I'll ask about the process and assuming it's not crazy then it should be good to go. Tricky finding the right company as ever!

Can't see it myself. We powder coat aluminium valves bodies for the petrol/chemical industry which have to be explosion proof. If it's OK for that it's will be fine for our wheels.

It should be low bake powder paint that's used. Cures at 120/140 deg if I remember. Won't damage alloys.
Industrial power paint cures at much higher temp & could distort some alloys.

Wouldn't worry , powdercoating far more hard wearing & resilient than paint + lacquer & never known any issues from the process
