Stuck in a hotel and came across a program on Poundshops..

My favourite moment was the family who owned the 99p shop chain discussing how the name and the price cost them 4 million a year in lost takings a 400 million turnover business..

It seemed crazy to me. That guy living in a hotel away from his family all week so that he could build this business empire. I didn't watch the whole thing so don't know if the guy had kids or anything, if he did that's a sacrifice too far if you ask me.
 
Staggering statistics floating about on the programme. Turnover, numbers of shops, rate of growth, etc. Couple of very rich families there.

Hadn't realised they source most direct from China, pay about 30p and item, then in the case of one of them pack it locally in the same colour so punters feel a collection of random items is a brand - neat :thumbsup:
 
It's back .... Loved the first documentary ... Must see tv... Hopefully not dumbed down now its on BBC ONE
