Potentially getting another E89

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking at getting another E89 having sold my last one a few years ago when we went down to one car. I've see a 59 plate 30i auto with just under 70k miles. Unusual colour combination of deep sea blue with coral leather which I quite like.

The car is a few hours drive from me so waiting for the seller to send through service history before arranging to go and see it to try and save a lengthy wasted trip.

Is there anything in particular that I should be looking for? My previous car was a 28i and I'd like to avoid the timing chain issues. Reading as much as I can on here and seems the 30i is pretty solid. I've seen a few 35i's that also look god, but I think I would always be worried about the HPFP etc.

Primary issue with 30i is that with age a lot o rings and seals get brittle..cam box cover being one, oil filter housing etc..

Water pump is a 70k-100k item.

I guess MOT history will indicate how well it was cared for.

On these chassis items, suspension, brakes, tyres to look at..

Plus of course the roof!

I didn't realise you could see that. Thanks very much for checking. I'll see if there is a good reason, but seems odd to bother putting a private plate on the car if he was only going to have it for a few months.

Yes looks quite well spec'd car..MOT history fairly typical, most owners don't realise the tyres wearing out on the inners as its difficut to see..also indicates for part of its life it was driven by Miss Daisy! :tumbleweed:

Pad wear suggests Indy servicing. :tumbleweed:

Ignore Pondweed..he doesn't keep his cars for more than 3 months anyway. oke:

Price is a bit toppy in this market..more like an £8k car..but if you like it..

Pity that the rear spoiler isn't colour coded.

Not sure but it looks like its got the cheapo audio systtem..if it is it can be upgraded relatively easily, if that bothers you.

Thanks for the replies. I was judging the price against the silver one that was on here until last week. By the time I'd sorted my money out it had sold. He's sent over the vin and it says it has HIFI S676 which I thought was the mid level system? I'd like a decent audio system so if it is the basic would need to look at options for upgrading it.

It’s a very well specified car for it’s age.

It’s a pretty unique colour combination. All old cars will have some issues, it’s part of ownership.

Mine had a double MOT one year, down to a miss-communication between the dealer and me.

If you like it, go for it.

I see that now! I always have a really good reason for selling cars, though. I get bored easily!

Also the Z4 was owned for 2 1/2 years which is a looong time in our household!

676 is the mid range system…fairly decent ..better speakers would improve it further…

The silver one was overpriced and went for a lot less….
