Hey,

Sorry if this has already been posted, I've had a quick look but couldn't find anything.

What do we think about this Coupe, is it a members on here?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202001015707354?make=BMW&radius=1500&postcode=sp47jh&sort=relevance&model=Z4&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&advertising-location=at_cars&body-type=Coupe&page=1

Had a quick chat with the owner, love the colour but the service history is a bit concerning perhaps? If I was to get it I would get the wheels changed back to standard colour.

Re the service history. If it’s clear, detailed receipts that can definitely be linked to the car personally it wouldn’t overly concern me.

Not a great fan of black wheels at all but I think they really suit that car.

Looks decent to me, as you say the only thing is the service history. If its early service history done within the BMW dealership network then it may be possible to get records of this from a friendly dealer.
I would take a look at what records it does have re servicing and look at the MOT history to see if it looks like it has been looked after

Thank you

If he's had the car for 10 years he should have a good folder worth of receipts, if he does I'm not that fussed about not having the book, its if there is nothing to back up the services I get a bit worried.

You might want to in fact you really must check the MOT history of that car before you do anything else.

https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk

There's advisories and failures for the past 5 years.

Check that there's receipts for the work carried out and there's a lot of work been done by the look of it.

Has the suspension been changed by any chance?

Just had a look at the MOT history, there are a few minors on for the last few years might be worth checking there are records of rectifying the items such as corroded springs and on the last MOT it indicates that it needs at least 2 tyres

Rear Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened (1.1.14 (a) (ii)) also on the last MOT.

Personally I think more subtle grey would suit the car better, especially with the colour of the car but it’s all down to personal taste.

Like you say, if the SH receipts tie to the car, not having the book shouldn’t be a massive issue.

Thanks for the MOT history, I had looked quickly, looking again it would cause for concern abound there be no receipts for brake work etc.

Without being in front of the car I guess I won’t know about the suspension work being carried out or not. I’ll need to have a good route though the SH.

I didn’t know if anyone on here knew of the car 🤷🏻‍♂️

Split Rim 108's look like the passenger front wheel needs refurbed.

They can go back to silver or replace them with something else and sell them on here.

Having just struggled to sell a 91K mile Montego Blue E86 for less than £7K I'd say that is strong money, especially for a private sale.

But if you really want Phoenix Yellow (and I can understand why you might) you won't see them for sale too often. It looks like only 46 manual Coupes that colour were registered in the UK!

I don't normally like black wheels, but those look good on that car. Mind you the seller admits they need a refurb so bear in mind that can get pricey as they need to be split for a proper job.

Good luck if you do decide to view it.

None of the MOT flags are particularly worrying on a car of that age. But they could be used to help negotiate a price that both you and the seller are happy with . Phoenix is a marmite colour but in the right light and I do think the black wheels help , look great.
Brakes arent expensive to replace and being based on the E46 , there is plenty of places selling parts. Check the non M46 parts, such as headlights , bodywork and the like. Good luck and try and buy on head than heart, which is always tricky . Been there too !!

I'm on the hunt for a PY Si E86 , this does look nice ( its been up for sale a good number of weeks) but the lack of documented history bothered me ( i accept it won't necessarily determine the current condition or potential for upcoming fails) along with the fact its been owned a considerable time by a owner who didn't like spending money on it
It looks lowered so id be asking what springs have been fitted as it may look great twinkling in the sun but ride like a Grimbsy trawler :(
Re the wheels ? i love the current look but id be amazed if they didn't need therapy to make them pristine so all in all id be buying that car thinking it would be needing at least £1k-£1500 spending over the first 6 months but what you would have is a very rare example though not everybody's taste in paint

The drivers seat looks to have some wear on the bolster.

Wheels need refurbished.

Brake Calipers have been painted.

No parking sensors.

Roof buttons missing which is a huge concern! :poke:

To be honest there's probably better spec'd cars for sale for similar or less with lower mileage although any extra paid for this car is due to the Phoenix Yellow colour. It's your money and whatever needs done to it there'll be plenty of info and advice on here.

There is a White Coo Pee for sale on Autotrader and one on here too! Both come with a boot full of rocking horse sh*t and a glove box full of hen's teeth!

Perhaps check on the forum too.... https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=41

 I’ve been a member on the site for a long time now and always enjoyed it, sold a couple of cars as well (and bought a few I might add) I’ve always fancied a coupe. I’ve noticed it being up for sale for awhile and owner isn’t really the talkative type by the looks of it. I would be a buyer but only for £1k-£900 cheaper

Like people are saying there are a few nicer spec ones for sale and I’m willing to take my time, just really like the colour, pretty sure that was an M3 colour? Could be wrong though

Neo, it looks a nice car.

However, I paid a similar price for mine, that needed only a service. It had full BMW history (was still covered by a genuine BMW warranty), has less miles and a 2008 car. It is an auto which was a requirement, but I wasn't expecting to find a car with virtually every option! It has.

My service was carried out by NCB Autokraft, who is highly respected and I've used on previous BMWs.

It it were me, and the seller allows, I'd see if they wouldn't mind Noel (NCB) inspecting it.

Alternatively, I think this is a Midlands based car, and if so, I'd happily attend and be the "voice of reason" and view with you. You are also welcome to try my car.
I can do this, this coming weekend, as I'm currently in Dubai :)

Genuine offer.

Thank you so much, I'm in Amesbury and Im trying to talk to the owner, if I get a viewing I'll certainly let you know, thank you for the very kind offer.

I wouldn't want to pay that for the car, I think the work that needs doing to it I would want to pay around £1k less :dizzy:

I'm with you in terms of pricing based on what I've seen lately and my recent selling experience!

I have seen a couple of Phoenix Yellow ones with the matching bi-colour seats, and that looks really stunning.

Good luck anyway.
