Potential M - advice appreciated

I don't think the debate over track use and condition is at all pointless but makes for an interesting view point as to where owners sit. I don't think Steven was implying the sentiment of garage queens, his car for example is very low mileage but is taken out for fantastic regular jaunts, ensuring her legs are well stretched.

Thank you for you input over the RB Tom, it all highlights just how specific M owners are about SH and rightly so. I wouldn't feel too great as an owner trying to sell a vehicle on that didn't have correct SH. not a proud moment and I wouldn't wish to be stuck with the fall out, whether it be financially or otherwise.

driving it regularely but not too much ;) 2k last year ...especially not on salty roads...and make sure to stretch it now and then when its warmed up properly ..

got a question ..do i need to change the oil every year even I've done 2k miles since last service?? or can I get away doing it next year?

Completely agree, and it is another consideration I make. My car has covered 28k miles over 7 years.....4k per year, 320(ish) per month, or 80miles per week on average....the car is used....I bought it to drive (just not to work).

But I completely agree, there are pros and cons of every aspect of a car's history. My point was that buyers do (and rightly so, imo) consider the impact of tracking a car, on its condition.
 
I wasn't implying toward Stephen specifically, just that people can be quite up there bottoms to say it nicely, about what camp your in. Everyone has their opinion and every car is different so arguing about your stance on buying a car you have no idea about its real history is pointless is what I meant. I think if there was a system on the cars that owners could see on a graph how the car has been used over its life you wouldn't buy any pre owned car. But tolerances are there for a reason and these were designed to be treated as such hence why it won engine of the year 10 years on the trot and has been used in numerous BMW M cars.

If that car is right for you within your budget and your happy then theres no issues. If the inevitable happens it happens its a gamble, but service history is the main thing you can go off and if done to BMW standards then thats your best bet.
 
Well they can't argue unlike the above where you a warranty will be invalid. Good will and all that and having fBMSH is the only way you can have a fully insured BMW warranty.
