POTENTIAL LOCATION CHANGE,TOPIC CLOSED.

Craig,Sammy (John)............Looking forward to seeing you both again.
Change of date/venue won't be a problem for me. Real shame about Crooklands as we know that and Waters Edge works fantastic as a venue.

Cheers

Yeah, the Waters edge have a few changes pending,re extra touring caravan pitches, meaning less tent space!
Crooklands have a Genuine booking,by a group who normally book each year, but have opened up their event to an overseas audience, and have taken most of the 32+ rooms!!
Would you believe it,after getting mixed information, was told it's a " Fearn society" that have booked a whole 7/8 days,Sat to Saturday.... To discuss Fearns, and have alot of overseas people coming to the Crooklands those year, lol.
They normally book around same time as us,but usually only take a hand full of rooms :headbang:

AlsoFOR NHEXT YEAR/2017,at present, there is plenty space for the weekend of Friday 30th June/Sat.1st July/,have t Ltd space(just 11 rooms) for the following Saturday;8th July,2017,as people have booked already!!

Anyway, once I get a Definitive answer from everyone we will start and get things finalised :D

P.S,the dilema I have just now,is that most people appear to be okay if we have to move venue/location to another part of the Lakes...and nobody has said Crooklands & W/edge is a must.....so,if we move to Bowness, will we then get people having issues with all being scattered in different accommodation, and the busier Town-based local of Bowness, where Parking would be in various b n b's /hotel carparks in a Town,as opposed to the more Rural setting of Crooklands??

Will keep an eye on the threads, and make a decision I early this coming week,I.e by Monday or Tuesday.......

We are actually here in Bowness now for a day out in the Zed. Currently in costa lol

We can't change from the original dates and for us changing the venue is the only option, if we have to skip this year then that's ok however there is plenty of alternative places that's for sure around here at Bowness and Ullswater.

Thanks
John and Sue

Updated/edited ,please read, and let me know what people feel about Bowness, and booking their own accommodation in Bowness,as opposed to Some of us staying at Crooklands and Waters edge, and others being in b n be etc within travelling distance of Crooklands, cheers

If we settle on a date & location then I'm happy to book my own hotel/B&B.

As you say, it's not easy to find somewhere that has plenty of rooms, decent car park, in a good location, and nearby camping.

I've seen a couple of large hotels in Grange Over Sands (Netherwood, Cumbria Grand), but don't know what their availability is like and whether that's a decent area or not for camping - although saw a decent camp site at Moss Howe Farm, but no nearby hotels.

I suppose the other option is one of the increasing number of 'glamping' sites where they offer pre-erected tents/huts/caravans/etc. - such as Wild In Style on Coniston or Windermere (although some are as expensive as hotels).

Another option is to move more inland (Ravenstonedale for example), where there is camping and some decent inns within walking distance Black Swan (17 rooms), Kings Head (6 rooms), Fat Lamb (short drive - 12 rooms).

No problem with a date change, Craig, I do think the BBQ is important - one of the reasons for me to attend tbh. I'm intending to bring 2 smallish tents.
Good luck with sorting this out anyway - sounds like a mare to me!

I can only make it for the Saturday and Sunday drives so meeting location is not an issue. I would prefer the original 2nd/3rd July dates due to other weekend commitments as the month goes by reducing the likelihood I can do both days drives and I am away on holiday on 30th July also. Thanks Craig.
