What a day ! Hit a pot hole or more like a crater in my 3 series yesterday & destroyed a 2 month old Michelin pilot super sport tyre (sick) Gets worse ordered a new tyre & got it delivered today,only to find out its cracked the rim too. Being a bank holiday car stuck on the drive after being towed home by a very nice AA man. Reported the holes straight away after phoning the AA & have taken some photos of the damage & the potholes. Has anyone had any experience of making a claim with there local council with any success. :headbang:

If you can find out if this pothole had previously been reported to the LA then you should have a better chance of succeeding with any claim that you may make for damage incurred to your vehicle. You need to report the incident to your LA Highways department without delay.
 
Reported the hole 5 mins after it happened,so here's hoping. Was told this morning that the holes are still there.
Anyone had a alloy welded ? As i`am going to struggle to get one quickly.
 
Just checked link srhutch, the potholes i reported on thursday & that are still there don`t show up on that link ! :thumbsdown:
 
Try fillthathole.org to see if there is a report there. I'm not a fan of pothole.co.uk because it lists very few reports whereas fillhole lists hundreds/thousands.

Nope. Got nowhere when I tried it after crashing out on my bike a few years ago, had photos, reports, the works. Got doodlysquat!
Been out on my bike today and the holes that are filled have just had tarmac shoved in and the workers are relying on cars to squash it down and level it. It's been dodge the hole and dodge the filler today.

Good luck with claiming but don't hold your breath.....

Don't give up yet. I've been through this twice and learnt a lot from my first experience. If you have the evidence don’t let them fob you off but threaten them with a solicitor. You can also ask for a FOI to force them to confirm the road was indeed inspected according to their statutory duty. In these cases it is very often perseverance and the whiff of legal fees that forces them to pay up. What have you got to lose versus what have you got to gain.
I also can’t emphasise enough how important it is to publicise potholes through say fillthathole.org. Once details are in the public domain a council cannot use the “we didn’t know anything about it” excuse.
 
One of my friends got a good result (but, as he says, he's good in court).

Took the council to court and got 4 new wheels for his 5 series.

Used the argument that you wouldn't buy one new shoe... judge must have been a petrolhead! :lol:
 
Since I got my Z4 (about a month ago) I have spent my time avoiding all of the ruts and pot holes in my town.
To my amazement, this week the local council have decided to resurface the local dual carriageway and the road to my house...BONUS!

Hope they get it finished by the weekend... :driving:
 
Had the same experience too and cost £850 to sort.

In my case it was new tyre, new shock absorber new hub and wheel bearing.

Absolutely ridiculous!

To my surprise, no cracked or buckled rim, however car was not on run flats.
