Pot holes - God damn them!!

Yeah the flyover is extremely narrow; apparently it was built in 1969 as a temporary measure and never replaced!! Since Christmas it has been horrendous and last time I used it I had to drop my speed right down to navigate them, was like driving on the road to Semey in Kazakhstan - truly THAT bad. Felt far too rough on the car so stopped using it now until they do something about it....despite the long wait at the roundabout. A picture to make people laugh....
Was out with a friend in his Golf when he hit a pot hole @ 40mph. Instant flat, wheel ok though. When he took it in for replacement the tyre firm were advising an hour's wait just to be seen, they were that busy. Minor but busy rd nearby is closed as it's slightly flooded but with huge potholes hidden in the water.
Think it'll be all year before they're fixed.

So I go out to check the car in broad daylight today after my encounter with said pot hole last night and unfortunately there appears to be a small dent on the outer rim of the rear offside tyre (which was the side of the car that hit the hole). I was surprised that the front wheel seemed fine though what with their being more weight over the front I thought it would take the brunt.
I could be paranoid but the car doesn't seem to sit quite level when looking at it from the rear either. I did the finger check between tyre and arch and there was about a finger and a half difference. That can't be good.
Tried to go back and see pothole but dual carriageway just too busy to stop and take photo. Really disheartened, I only got her a few weeks ago!
I have a three month warranty from the dealer so will see if I can get it checked and rectified under that.........sigh

You can claim against the council but it's deliberately a lot of agro. I hit one on Piccadilly that shattered most of my spine (well, sort of) and was sure it had done some damage....so took photos, reported it. They sent me about 10 pages of forms to fill out and instructions on how to prove damage had resulted, but the car was actually fine, didn't bother. Pothole filled in within days though so make sure you take photos before you report it
I'm going to call the council tomorrow to report the hole and see where we go. Hopefully there is no serious damage but I should probably get it looked at.
Presumably I could get the wheel refurbished to sort out the dent?

Rotherham council are currently resurfacing some of the roads near my house. I'm shocked. I've lived in that house for 4 years and this is the first time they have done something about the terrible roads surrounding it :x I am finally getting something for the tax i pay.

Roads in Yorkshire are pretty dire.
When i lived in Calverley it was pretty bad. The worst roads are in Bradford...

I've just hit one today on an A road doing 60+ and felt like a pretty severe impact.
Apart from checking the tyres for damage myself is it a case of getting a garage to check it out?
Did I see someone say there is technique for checking even gaps around the wheel arch?

Ride heights on the back seem within 1 - 2mm of each other, allowing for the inaccuracies of my measuring. But on the front there seems to be a difference of about 5mm with the larger gap being the side of the pothole. Is that normal?
But I have also checked the tyre and there is a definite (but not huge) bulge on the front side where I hit the pothole, and I have no idea whether that was there before. So I guess that needs to be checked out?
If that has happened as a result of the pothole and needs to be replaced then I will definitely take a photo - and will do so tomorrow morning to be on the safe side!
