Posting to the Netherlands

Just before Christmas I sent via Royal Mail a good Christmas pudding to our Dutch friends - it cost more to post than it cost (£8) - it was well packed and labelled but it never arrived.
It’s been suggested that it might be classified as prohibited but I can’t find anything definitive.

Have I just been a victim of lost in the post or has it been scoffed by a dishonest official during its journey?

I’d suggest that if you haven’t used track&trace or signed-for post then it may well have been pilfered and scoffed, followed by a satisfying shmoke. Lol
It may well also be languishing in the customs bay in Amst and marked up as ‘suspicious awaiting inspection’

I can’t tell you how many creditcards i’ve had pilfered when being sent to me here in NL from the UK and the hilarious thing is that the banks continue to send them via normal mail. Bonkers!

I suspect pilfered!
Our friends often have models sent from a company in Liverpool and they also “go astray “

If it has been eaten then I hope they choked on it!

Some would argue that some Liverpool models 'go astray' way before they're sent anywhere...

Our friends are to check the “use by“
I think Christmas puds do have a good shelf life.

Update:-

The parcel which I posted 12th Dec 2019 arrived today!

I feel for you .. I have a house in the west of Ireland and a subscription to Autocar .. The magazines appear randomly .. yesterday I received the New Year edition

Post in Ireland is very erratic

Seems strange that it (the pudding) arrived only days after submitting a complaint form to Royal Mail

I once sent a set of poker chips from Beijing to a friend in Roatan, Honduras. Again the postage was more than the cost of the chips. I mailed them from a large post office but the language barrier (spoken and written) nearly meant it didn't happen. Luckily the manager bought out an atlas and I was able to point out Roatan island to her.
Anyway, sent in early January 2009 and arrived in March 2010!

So you should now message your friend....."You've had your chips!" :)
