Hi,
My poor new Z4 is waiting 250 miles away at a dealers all ready and prepped. Just waiting for my private plate to be transferred.

DVLA have done their bit, and posted it yesterday. However, now i have to wait until the dealer recieves the paperwork in the post. Which could be delayed upto five days. The Dealer argues that his local DVLA office would not post the paperwork as they go and collect the documents themselves. So i suppose they are both as confused as eachother!!!!

Alas its been two weeks, and i have only had it for one day in that whole two weeks...

So as i type this. I am running around in a part-ex Audi A4 technically owned by a BMW Dealer (was my car which i px'ed)...

Posties, if you dont like your job........get another one!!!

We are in a reccesion and everyones got it hard. I was made redundant 8 months ago and was on the dole. After 15 interviews i finally landed another job.

Thats life!!!!!!!! :fuelfire:

gutted for you - must be frustrating :headbang:

I'm with you chaps. :fuelfire:
RM really not doing themselves any favours! It's the small business I feel sorry for, as well as Beancounter. However, thanks to the forum and a post about shipping wheels ( ) I found Interparcel who should be delivering my mum's birthday present on time!

Beancounter,

You could have simply picked up the car first and then gone to your local DVLA to do the transfer yourself at a later stage. It's not as if the strikes were not well publicised.

Although I do agree that the posties had it too good for too long (I used to work in HR for them) and it's all the same complaints over & over again.

When I was there it was the fact that Royal Mail wanted to bring in more staff to do the extra work that they were paying overtime rates for, but the current staff wanted the overtime themselves so went on strike.

The next strike was over working hours - as they claimed they wanted to do less hours, when in fact they just wanted their standard hours reducing so that they could claim more overtime hours.

Now it's over the fact that Royal Mail know they can save money be automating a lot of the work, so the delivery staff who used to do one shift on the street and then come in to a sorting/delivery office in the later morning/afternoon to do overtime will now only have one shift per day, and thus lose valuable overtime.

Rationally Royal Mail are right in that it'd be cheaper to either have extra staff to do these jobs (at single time, rather than overtime rates), or have machines doing it.

If I was Royal Mail, I'd simply shut up shop, and sell it off to someone else to start again with new staff on new temporary/rolling contracts - they could keep their unions but the nature of their contracts would mean you'd basically be on a year-by-year contract.
