Looks sweet on 224’s Colin, shame to use one but black hardtop looks great too.

Cheers John,
I guess the debate about whether hardtops are a good idea for roadsters will last forever - hell, I wasn't convinced when I first came across them.
On a nice crisp winter day with blues skies will I think 'bugger, wish I could drop the roof!' - frankly yes, but there's something about the coupe feel and the fact that the soft top is protected from all that rain, snow and ice that is comforting. Makes the Spring even more enticing.

Your car is looking great Marlon.

I've got a set of black 32s with winters on stand-by, but my hardtop is on all year!

The Black and Red go together realy well Collin. My son has the same combo for his MX5. Zed looks better though. 8) Just don't tell him I said that.

Thanks buzyg - I remember at the national in the Lakes a couple of years back seeing about half a dozen lovely red MX5s having their own meet all with black hard tops, gave them a wave and got a wave back :)

I'll put up a photo when they are on!

They were being sold on here at a price I couldn't resist by someone who had sold his Z4 and was having a garage clear-out - the tyres are virtually new, and I got a 5th one in silver which would work as a spare!

Which is a shame, because in anticipation of finding out what my car was like on non-RFTs I had already bought a 17inch spacesaver as a belt and braces back-up to Tyreweld and a compressor. :(

Then last week I picked up a set of 224s (well, 4 fronts as they are all 8Js) that were also advertised on here for a price I just couldn't ignore, so I plan to get them refurbed and 2 new tyres fitted ready for next Spring.

So once the winters go on I'll sell my 108s with Bridgestone RFTs while the wheels are still in decent condition.

I already had a set of winters for my E46, so as I have no garage I've now got 14 BMW wheels stored in the garden! :o I wonder if they will grow?

Quite a story - ending up with the same as me: 224s for summer, black 32s for winter. Who'd have thunk  :driving:

Sounds like me. I had 17 at one point plus 6 Mini wheels on top

465 Z miles covered last night leaving me over the channel :driving: couldn't leave the Lancashire weather behind though :

Your new E89 looks very well Mr Wilks. I like the stance, wheels and rear valance/exhausts  Have you tinted the rear lights ?
Nice place you have over there also :) Do you go via the Eurotunnel ? I'm planning a trip next spring visiting the D-Day beaches etc. Any tips for crossing ? Thanks, Si

I take whatever crossing suits my timings + costs . Tunnel is pretty relaxed & i may head home that way next week but if not tend to use Newhaven -Dieppe as its a good mix of location for where i want to be in France .
Been up to the landing beaches today as it happens , Juno + Omaha :driving:
