Still bloody raining, that scottish misty spray type cloaking rain, but brings out some interesting beading patterns in the coupe :)

Looks like your Ariel has shrunk in all that rain :poke:

Cracking roads and scenery thrown in, can't be bad eh Mr Wilks, typical today the sun is shining.

Today was a stunner & i left Wasdale at 9-30am for the trek up to Hardknott pass & on to Wrynose :driving: WoW is all i can say about the first though not sure i'l be rushing to do it again anytime soon
Ive covered 330 miles this weekend ticking off many places ive wanted to see for a while .
For anyone who hasn't done Hardknott but plans to just be wary that no map or online description can truly depict the steepness & tightness of the switchbacks approaching the top on both sides , pretty hairy at times & if the road was damp & tyres cheap then in places you would struggle for traction ( add a worn clutch & just forget the whole idea )
Summary for those planning a roadtrip to the Lakes is the southern half is more visually stimulating (imo) .
None of the roads are particular good in terms of free flowing or to drive simply for enjoyment ( the road down from Elterwater , Coniston , Torver probably the most enjoyable from a drivers perspective)
I enjoyed the 2 days but as i approached home turf & headed into The Trough of Bowland near Quernemore / Abbeystead the driving soon became freer , easier , quicker although scenery not quite a match for Eskdale , Langdale , Scafell & Coniston .

First thoughts by comparison after driving the MR since March > Si felt civilised , quiet , steering a dream & overall far more absorbing of the roads ( though my M is on Eibachs which i really don't like  )
Noticed the lack of mechanical theatre from the S54 immediately & doubt any backbox mod would ever change that .
Its no newsflash that the 3.0Si is the best all rounder of all Zs , look what you get for what you pay & show me another 265bhp roadster for same spend that drives as good
///Ms are special to own but if i had to sell mine & keep the Si i genuinely wouldn't mind :o

Mr Wilks the forums wordsmith, as always summing things up succinctly in his own inimitable style.
